Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Odd that apple havnt listed IP rating or battery life, so hold out on the spec battle till thats confirmed.

If Apple aren't talking about the battery life it's because it's not impressive, or at least not impressive enough. As for the moto 360, I was so interested in this, but the SoC, wtf were they thinking, it's a slightly faster version of what's in my MOTOACTV running watch (which I bought 3 years ago) and was going into phones being released 4 years ago! It's a cortex A8 which has been superceded by the A7, specifically designed to be "a smaller, simpler, and more power-efficient successor to the Cortex-A8"

Reading more I'm not planning on the 360 any more. It looks great but the hardware behind it is pretty poor. Why choose the dead OMAP3 that uses more power as well as performs less compared to the S400? And the iFixit teardown reveals it's the exact same OMAP3 that powered Motorola's MOTOACTV. The G Watch R is looking more and more tempting...

Was quite excited about the moto 360, but not with a days charge.

Why has battery tech stagnated so much recently? Battery life is poor even in phones. I expected by now battery life would have increased by a reasonable margin, but from looking at it, the battery life of phones now matches pretty much phones which came out 3-4 years ago.

I think I've just seen the future, Apple patenting a 1-2cm wide strap with a square (with rounded corners) display designed for wearing on the wrist. Oh dear god.

I doubt anyone here is concerned about a spec sheet battle with the Apple Watch looking as bad as it does.

That's the same as all the Android watches isn't it? They're IP67? Not sure on the exact code, but pretty certain they're only resistant rather than water proof.

IP67 should mean it can be held up to 1M underwater for 30 mins...

Its the battery life and size thats off putting for me, i need to see one before i decide :/

I'm ready to order one ASAP. Slightly disappointed by the internals but it's still the best smart watch by a country mile in my eyes. Seeing the Apple Watch yesterday only confirmed this for me.

Must admit I thought Apple were going to nail the Smart Watch. Personally it looks like cracks are appearing without Mr Jobs. I think it will be not until the iPhone 7 will they make a decent looking wearable. Makes me laugh though at all the concepts people made, it's nothing like any of them.
