Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

I've been charging mine overnight without fail since I've had it Boom. It goes on charge around 11pm and comes off the charging stand at 7am. No signs of screen burn here and I'm sure that the last update lowered the screen brightness during charging. Perhaps this is Moto's way to prevent image retention...?

Good to know. How about the qi aspect, I assume there's a mechanism to cut the power once a threshold has been hit?

So it picks up quick every time? How tight do you have the watch on too?
Few threads on xda appear to confirm that the heart rate thing isn't all that reliable or accurate too....

I went out for a 5 mile run with it, seems it still shows me as 100% inactive (40-92bpm)... I'm sure my BPM will be above 92bpm with my pace.

One thing that I am finding annoying is the clock face with the multiple timezones.... The moto connect app lists the timezones in a non alphabetical or numerical order, and lists them wrong, not proper like "est" or "cet". Instead preferring " New York" , or "Paris".

There's a reporting cracking issue with some straps. More indepth info on XDA but it boils down to making sure the strap is the right size and that the mount has a gap in the middle...I think. :-p

I'm seeing some reports that the pedometer is a bit overzealous.
Difficult to see to be honest, but i was hoping it was more accurate than the pedometer apps that you can get from the market for phones, as the android wear devices do clearly advertise "pedometer hardware" from what i remember, so i assume its more accurate.
I'm more concerned with that than the heart monitoring really.

Good face's here btw:

All downloadable in one zip, all in the newer facer format (that unlike the zips that are on that facerepo website, all actually work).

I don't think its too bad from the run I done... I'm going to do a better test the next day I'm running; I really want the BPM sensor to work better.

Nice find on the faces :)

I ordered the last Moto 360 that JL had online last night for collection and picked it up in store today, so far so good. I've downloaded Facer and some new faces to try.

Is anyone else slightly peeved that the examples of faces that the creators make look different to what the watch actually displays, as in clarity/sharpness?
Its like watching a food advert.... Looks great on TV, then in real life it's technically the same but some how underwealming. :p

Hah! I thought i was the only one, i feel the exact same way.

I have a shed load of faces to choose from now but yet im using one of the standard faces it ships with...

I've not used anything other than the ones that came with the 360. I like the Digital and Minimal ones mainly.
Black tends to be best to hide the flat tyre which tbh I hardly notice anyway.

Is it a resolution issue?
