Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

I've got the tic watch pro 3 gps and it's been pretty damn good since I bought it. I'm likey to upgrade to the ticwatch pro 5 as it hits all my needs and I'm already in the mobvoi ecosystem.
That's what I have at the moment too and I'm also very happy with it.

I fancy trying the new OS and the extended battery life sounds good, but not sure I've seen much to tempt me away from what is possibly a very similar product.

I also can't yet confirm whether or not Google Fit works properly on the TWP5.

For me it's the improved screen protection and battery. I commute 40km a day by bike and use the watch to track various settings and it consumes a lot of the battery.

The quick charge would also be good too so I can wear it at night for sleep tracking and sp02 etc. measurements which I watch now due to covid complications in march 2020 with my lungs.

Well I'm in possession of a TWP5 now and it's...good, but so far very similar to the Pro 3 :D.

Great screen, slicker and smoother interface, apparently great battery life.

Only negative I've found so far is that I just tried to pay for something using Google Pay and it failed on the watch. Maybe something to do with first use, dunno.

I currently have the Watch 4 (with rotating bezel) and I'm two minds to upgrade to a Watch 6 Classic. On one hand I don't like the fact the hardware seems very iterative to the Watch 5, which ran the same SoC as the Watch 4. However, one thing that might interest me is if the Watch 6 Classic has some of the software features of the Watch 5 Pro? Apparently you can load a map onto Watch 5 Pro to follow a route whilst on a run, something you can't do on the GW5 non-Pro 5 or earlier models.

The review sites I've read don't seem to go into much detail on any software differences of the new 6 series watches? Does anyone know.

here you go , ordered my Watch Classic 6 (43mm) as trade-in with discount from a galaxy watch 4 (42mm) classic

I thought i'd try sleeping with my watch on so it can measure my temperature and heart rate etc and gather some data... i couldn't do it.. its too uncomfortable to sleep on as i tend to sleep on my arm as well.

I wish it could measure temperature while not asleep, i can't find it as a function anywhere.

Those with a Garmin and weight train. Is there a way to log strength training in terms of HR and duration, not interested in logging exercises, reps etc.

Basically how Apple Watch does functional training workout.
Easy. Record using the Cardio option not strength, but follow a strength training plan or just freetrain.

Good to see someone else with Garmin, seems 99% on here have toy watches lol. I use mine mostly for hiking and mountain biking. Love the training stuff it hasn't steered me wrong yet.

Another key thing I've figured out is that you ideally need to strap on a HRM because the wrist based HRM just doesn't see those transient spikes that you common in weight training.

Definitely, I use a chest strap where HR is one of the main metrics your after. I do mostly cycling so power is more important but I use HR outdoor cycling.

What watch have you got?

I was just like you. I felt it was very uncomfortable, but the trick for me was to wear the watch all day and night and I'm now used to it.
