Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Folks, Ive got myself a Gear S3, but after looking at the Ticwatch 2, that has interested me.
I have a Oneplus5T and always wondered about non Samsung watches...

Should I stick with the S3 or consider the Ticwatch?

I like the look of the ticwatch too. Prices on the net seem variable. What are the best deals out there?

I think at the minute Spotify on android wear is just for controlling. You get artwork, playlists and everything so at least it looks nice. Google music does everything I think though.

The 'Ticwatch 2' looks really interesting. Slim-ish design, round face. The ability to change the strap to my own preference as well?

Using Android Wear is a benefit too as I'm now used to that with my ancient (and ugly) Sony SW3.

I'm not interested in all of the health monitoring stuff - I just want to read google maps/citymapper on my wrist; control google play music and other apps; and tell the time at a glance. With a decent day long battery life.

Just keep in mind the ticwatch 2 isn't android wear. That's the ticwatch e and s. The 2 is ticwear os

Indeed, I've just watched a couple of videos about the Ticwatch 2 and it seems really limited about the apps that you can install.

I wish Google would get it's act together about Wear, as the hardware seems to be out there, but there's just no support to tie it in with the Wear operating system.

And I would like a slim, round, functional, android smartwatch (reasonably priced of course)

But, would it last a day with it on?

A big advantage of my Sony SW3 is being able to see the time at a quick glance. The reflective background of the watch face is very useful to see the time.

Yep, most watch faces offer a dim mode and depending on how well the developer has implemented it it can easily last a full day+

Here's my saddle brown barton strap. It's really nice in the flash, rubbish photos!

Hey folks. Really tempted by Gear S3 at the moment, but also considering the Gear S2. TBH, the only thing that's putting me off the S3 is the size, but I would quite like to try Samsung Pay. (Currently using an S7 Edge and a Pebble Steel, but the Pebble screen is on the way out.)

Don't think I'd get on with the Android options, with all that swiping (with most of them anyway). Think I'd like the rotating bezel of the S2/S3.

Ginga

I can't speak for Tizen, but the reason I refused to pay more than the £115 the ticwatch cost me was because android wear is a buggy mess.

If someone for example rings me, I answer on the mobile but the watch keeps vibrating. Like most google bugs, it was reported on their forums in 2015 but still not fixed.
