smokers

Agree with the OP. Absolutely disgusting. I don't understand how people can start it even if they do have problems. If you have problems deal with? Don't spend all your money smoking crap that causes you more problems :/

social conditioning, peer pressure (not just the go on have a smoke sort, but how about everyone you look up to smokes ey?) then it becomes a habbit and before long an addiction then its a pain to stop.
I stopped smoking about 3-4 years ago now, having smoked since I was about 13, did it to be part of a group at school, and it worked aswell. gave me somthing to do during brakes at college with the other smokers too, but I made my mind up to stop (just because I didn't want to smoke anymore, not for any other reason ie health, money etc) and I did, cold turky, that day and never since.

this is along the same lines as the fat persons thread.

but why do smokers think they have the right to drop fag ends wherever they are, the streets are full of them and it is an eyesore, why is it not treated as litter and the offenders fined for it? not only that but some people even leave them smouldering.

also why do smokers smoke in very public places where people arent moving, for example train stations. i hate it, i get off the train, and go up the stairs which are enclosed (there are only about 30 steps) and people already light up completely regardless for all the non-smokers' health. also in london victoria station people are always smoking.

smokers are such selfish, pathetic people. how can they not go without a cigarette for a train journey.

i think people should not be able to smoke ANYWHERE outside their home, even walking down the street, if someone in front of you is smoking you get it right in the face. it is disgusting. fortunately people are starting to give up, but "chavs" still think it is cool to smoke.

i, as a non-smoker, dont want to have to breathe in other peoples' smoke, so why should i have to? it is damaging to my health yet the government do nothing about it.

(and before anyone goes on about car fumes being just as bad, yes they are however cars are an integral part of society if people need to make long journeys or transport heavy things etc. i also believe short journeys should be made on foot or by bike and that all public transport should be run on renewable fuel (they do it in delhi, india, why cant they do it here))

*braces himself for the flames* (pun not intended)

Your 15 years old, have no grasp of the "adult" world and the associated problems that come with it.

Adult life can be a lot tougher than school life my friend.
Adults cope with things in different ways, if smoking is one of those ways then so be it.

You probably have'nt had a serious problem so wouldn't know if you'd start smoking or not.

before you say you wouldn't, i never used to smoke, hated it, but now i do smoke.

Valid point i HATED smoking up until the age of 17, went to College, new crowd of people, peer pressure, drugs, nightclubs, beer, smoking all followed.

Pretty much everyone i know smokes, or has smoked.

But dont bother starting if you can resist :)

and makes your legs fall off FACT

one of my clients is 40 a day, had both legs amputated now and still smokes!

Don't blame smokers, blame the terrorists.

If all the bins weren't removed for security reasons, then there wouldn't be any mess ;).

Gotta agree with the Original Poster for the most part. Its frustrating when I have to breathe in other people's smoke.

I'm into health and fitness myself and I dont like to see people abusing their bodies in this way. It pains me to see young people/kids (like blackstar, for example) smoking themselves to inevitable illness. Its best to try and quit when you first start, for once you become a longterm/hardcore smoker, it becomes increasingly difficult to quit.

Add to that the expense, that your mouth and clothes will smell badly and will need to have some chewing gum to mask the bad smell. ;) Your skin/hair will suffer and look dull/dry. Your teeth will stain.

So quit smoking and show off your lovely white teeth and fresh, glowing skin :p

What totally has me bamboozled though is that all cigarette packets have warnings like "smoking kills", "smoking causes cancer", and generally tells you that if you smoke what is in this packet, it will impact your life negatively. Yet, people will spend large sums of money, with total disregard to their health and buy these items. If I could make an item where I could write on the packet, "using this item will kill you" and yet have people buying the item, I would be very very wealthy...I just cant think of such an item damnit!!!

Edit: almost forgot to add that smoking also reduces your libido. So if you see a male heavy smoker, show some pity for he will probably be having erection problems. :D
