Couldn't really think of a more relevant title. My office is in a managed building with lots of other companies, as is the same with all offices these days if you want a fag you have to go outside.

I myself am not a smoker and can't stand the smell of it myself, so I had to chuckle when i received this email. Although I can't imagine the smokers being best pleased :)

Dear Clients

In recent weeks we are getting an ever increasing number of comments and complaints from clients who are not smokers about having to reach the back door to CityPoint through what they frequently describe as "clouds of smoke".

Because of the location of the back door and surrounding structure we can also see an area of still air immediately adjacent to the back door under certain conditions. This is not helped by odours coming from the ashtrays when the area of still air is present.

In order to try and reduce the level of complaints from non smokers, within the next few days, we will be relocating the wall mounted ashtrays and we would also ask smokers to congregate around these ashtrays rather than directly at the back door.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Heh heh! That'll learn em. Hopefully they'll get the message soon to smeg off home if they want a fag. Its the same in Canary wharf. Smokers congregate around the doors to the shopping centre and stink the place out. You do have to walk through a wall of smoke, which nicely coats you in it after your morning shower. Then, the whole place is covered in fag butts, and the ones that could be bothered to use the ash trays have failed to put them out properly, resulting in a smouldering furnace inside them which is ejecting thick black fumes and stinking the place out even more.

lol, i can see why you're popular around here

I'll stick up for Visage in this instance, the reason you had trouble coming up with a title is because you have posted something that has no direct relevence to us - there is no relevent title. You have even barely stated whether you care about it, or if you have any feelings on it.

This will merely turn into 'all those who dislike smokers say so here' session. We all know that the majority of people have been fed propaganda to demonise smoking. They are the same type of people who thought smoking was so cool when they were fed propaganda telling them it was cool.

Ok then let's have a discussion about smokers rights then, should a few non-smokers always be able to affect policies such as these.

Personally I think yes, as the few are actually the majority (or at least I would think so)

I'm a smoker and i'm all with the non-smokers on this.

I've quit twice and gone back, but i appreciate how horrible it is being around smoke, its sickening.

My local shopping center is exactly the same. Why do these companies insist on placing the ash trays near the entrance? What's even worse is a lot of smokers insist on just standing anywhere near the entrance puffing away making it impossible to escape the smell/fumes, they should go the sides tbh. I suppose if they didn't place the ash trays at the entrance then the smokers would complain.

They'd probably complain its an infringement of their human rights, and the PCLE dont have the balls to tell them where to go. The sooner we get a PROPER government in power the better.

the sooner this Fin police state and nannies nation F's off the bettter

This is GD, not SC. It has more right than most to be a thread here.

Lol. Good thing for "propaganda", because I never would have been able to figure out all on my own what 1000s upon 1000s of adicts puffing away, stinking out the place then disgarding their used fag ends onto the street with every ounce of disregard and insult they can muster, means. If it werent for "propaganda", I would probably think these actions were good things, right?

but if someone doesn't want to smoke but is forced to walk through clouds of cigarette smoke, is that "fair"?

I take great pride in trying to hit with the door any fool of a smoker that stands in the path of the doors, oblivious to the world around them - intoxicated by the pleasure of their habit. Its great the nasty look you get from them when you hit them with that rude awakening, makes my day! :p

Sort it out Nero, why try to hurt people with habits you disagree with... are you too fragile to merely use words? If you dont feel they should be near the door, ask them to move?
