Type

into a new text file and name it fahmon.sh

That should create a shortcut for FahMon.

Open it and select Run.

He might have to make it executable first:

Code:
cd [path to file]
chmod +x [filename.sh]

I found FaHmon in Linux never saved it's settings, so every time I launched it I had to set all the preferences and find the client etc. I've just got the Windows FaHmon working though, I ended up mapping the Linux Home folder as a network drive, which was probably incorrect but it's working.:)

Oh, and I've followed your instructions SiriusB and now have 2 SMP clients trundling along. They both have 2608's so I shall see what they do and post a benchmark.

Thanks for your help.:)

im trying to get VMware working under vista x64, i have had this working before on this OS but i think im going mental now, im trying to get it to log onto a host on first run but i cant get it to log into one.

Please tell me im being daft and missing something simple, im trying to log in using the following hosts... localhost, my DNS name, my IP address. When using localhost i get the error message "Cannot connect to host localhost: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" im using my username 'david'. Im not missing out anything am I?

well i cant remember doing this last time either, but its asking me to choose a 'host'?

edit: im gonna uninstall, redownload and try again, probs im just tired and being stupid

I usually wait until the ATI Drivers in my system have loaded (eons) before starting VMWare and then I select the top option of the 2 in the pop up menu thing that appears, the second option is the one with the 'log on' details, the first doesn't bother.

Ok i got it to work correctly when disabling Vistas force driver signing, but tbh i dont really want to have to press F8 everytime I boot my machine, i swear i had this working before, im gonna try some of the older versions

I don't use VMWare nor Vista so my knowledge in this regard is practically non-existant.

I would like to add any notes about VMWare on Vista but I haven't seen any definitive how tos or even comments on it.

ok I got it all working fine now, I found a command to turn off driver signing enforcement which means VMware now works perfectly in case your interrested it is "bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS" btw the DD is not a typo.

credit.. I found this off chris123nt.com

Yip VMWare needs driver signing to be disabled to run on x64 Vista.

It's still not officially supported on Vista so we may see signed drivers in the next VMWare Server release.

Tho I haven't rebooted in over a week, so it doesn't annoy me.

I got that filesharing malarky working eventually, the shared folder on the VM nows shows up as a 'Network Place', I just have to login to it after a reboot and after VMWare starts up.

On a different note, anybody shed any light on this:

[09:18:31] Completed 475000 out of 500000 steps (95 percent)
[09:29:52] CoreStatus = 1 (1)
[09:29:52] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0x1

Grrrr, oodles of hours of folding down the drain.:(

Annoying, isn't it! :( I just lost a winSMP WU at 60 percent. Also had a number of standard window client EUEs as well recently.

My 95% one happened around the same time as the telephone/ADSL started working again, it was down all over the area for a few hours and then came back on. I was in the local cafe enjoying a pression and discussing our telephone woes at the time.

Coincidence?
