SNES Mini Classic

Cheers I ended up being weak and looking at your spoiler last night, am I being daft or was there zero clues ever pointing to doing this?
That worked? Cool! I dunno how I discovered it. Think it was by accident? It was 25 years ago :D

Aye found the 3D games to really have aged badly.
Graphics wise definitely. However, the gameplay still holds up well. Mario Kart has gone down an absolute storm with my daughter despite having played the latest version!

Axelay isn’t on the SNES Mini. Contra III is though.

Mario kart used that mode 7 thing tho, the clips I've seen of starfox look terrible but it was the beginning of it all. Mario kart does play fantastic tho, simplistic and insanely addictive

This is why I'm less excited by the prospect of a Nintendo64 mini as I don't think the games will hold up unfortunately.

Even the classics like Mario 64 and Zelda ocarina seem clunky without the 3ds enhancements they added. I couldn't see me going back and playing it.

I'd still buy the console if they ever release an N64 mini though :D

I thought that when I pulled the N64 out to play goldeneye, controls even seemed awkward

Going a bit ot but I have played many N64 games on Rare Replay and had no problem enjoying 3D games. I even replayed Banjo Kazooie+Tooie from start to finish and never once felt controls were a problem or got bored playing it. Camera angles did leave a lot to be desired though.

Camera angles have always been a problem with Rare games. Donkey Kong 64 is the worst one in my history. Loved the game but struggled with the camera at times.

I tried to replay dk64 a few weeks ago but found the camera so unbearably bad that I’ve given up. No idea how I put up with it as a teenager.

Well that doesn't fill me with confidence, picked DK64 up just recently and haven't had a chance to play it yet :)

On topic though was playing super punch out last night, took a while to get back into it but was good button bashing fun (although from memory it's better played as a non button bashing game :p)

I think I'm gonna get one of these. Mario Kart on the snes for me is still the greatest racer ever made, time trial on rainbow road with dk... great memories.

It does seem a bit pricey but if every other snes game will be 'accessible', doesn't seem so bad. Plus I want my kids to have a snes as their first console!!

That is all subjective when you factor the price of some of the carts. Most of the games on the system are £40 each. Plus you get a great picture on modern screens out of the box.

Given how much Metroid, Earthbound, Final Fantasy go for alone.... a lot.

Ive got a boxed Snes and 30 games, again all boxed and at current ebay prices parting it out and not rushing would net me somewhere between 2 and 3 grand.

I paid sensible prices about 3 - 4 years ago just patiently collecting the games I wanted but even then prices were getting stupid.

If anyone has a mini for sale, I'll take it. I've started a thread in the wanted section...

Edit: should have added, I'm willing to pay whatever it cost you plus postage, possibly even a bit more but nothing silly...

How much would it cost sourcing the original console and games that come with it from ebay

Well... I've just done some searching. Excluding Starfox 2 *as you can only get repurposed carts for this, at £80ish* and including a modded SNES with PAL/NTSC with HDMI.

Mixture of UK and US carts. Pretty much all cart only, also pretty sure they're all genuine.
Earthbound cart only at £275ish
Super Mario RPG - £150ish
Final Fantasy III - £120ish
Modded SNES - £110
and so on.

All in all, about £1100.

So...£70 seems a damn good deal.
