Sniper Elite - 2

I played the xbox demo today & it was reasonably enjoyable apart from having to use the xbox controller:P The slow-mow kill shots are pretty gruesome too!

Not really my cup of tea though so doubt I'll get it on PC.

As others have said, I don't really see the point of a Sniper game where you seem to have no choice but to engage nearly every enemy. The demo also locked up my PC just as I planted the charges, first time in months that's happened!

Glad for the demo as otherwise I'd have probably picked this up but other than the bullet-cam, which is cool but would soon get annoying, there really is nothing significant there to warrant a purchase.

Well after playing and completing the first one I was really looking forward to this and more importantly fixing the problems with the first one.

Load the game up...nice menu...set all settings to maximum...new game...it's in third person...WHAT? Good start. :( (I hope there is a way to change it back, I didn't see it).

Graphics look...terrible in all honesty, jaggy and washed out from the non-scoped view, they improve slightly when you are looking through the scope or binos.

There are loads of ruins and loads of doors to buildings...except you can't move through most ruins and the doors are just textures.

As others have said there is absolutely no free reign, you are just walking through one wide corridor made to look outside, there is no option for sneaking, no alternate routes...the weapons don't have a great feel to them though the overall sound is good.

I played it through on normal difficulty and again on maximum difficulty with all help options off...to be honest I didn't notice a lot of difference.

The sniping mechanic does feel nice (has sniping ever not?) but it's just not quite there...it's average at best...I may be interested on budget but certainly not at full price.

The fact that this was their specially made demo level to show the game off just makes me more disappointed...such a shame. :(

If there's an upside, I didn't have any performance issues on an i7 920, Gigabyte EX58-UD5, 18GB, GT 570.

You do realize the original Sniper Elite, was third person as well right?
You must be thinking of a different game.

Demo is alright, more or less what you'd expect from a sniping game.
Doubt I'll pick it up on release, no doubt it will be in the steam sales later this year.

Actually no, I'd completely forgotten, it's been years since I played it! And yes, I am thinking of the right game. :p

It's what you expect? I think you have low expectations...

It's a sniping game...it's all about stealth, keeping hidden, the perfect moment, the perfect shot, exploration of the landscape to find the perfect vantage point...

This game has none of those, it's a bitter disappointment, apart from the enhanced gore I don't see much to separate it from the original which is a missed opportunity.

Was a big fan of the first one, was hoping that the sequel would have been immense.

Playing the demo I can only echo what other people have said, having to kill every enemy and the fact it is so linear is a little bit annoying... It would be great if you have the chance to be able to go crawling through other buildings to find your own routes and there is no real downside to being spotted or just going hell for leather with a machine gun.

That said it is just the demo and hopefully it was designed more to show off the new bullet kill effects, which are cool.

video of demo
