Snowrunner

Hi,

You're welcome to try this: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VpPIsf3c2kyBrIOhl_e4RWx5uRUVA94l?usp=sharing

I'm at a similar stage to when you lost your save so hopefully you'll be able to get going again with minimal differences.

Hope it works, good luck!

Thank you for sharing. Lost my save game last night for the second time.

There should be a folder with backup saves. You can rename/move them in place of the broken save so you only lose a little bit of progress.

The local is different between the different store versions of you look it up.

Purchased this a week or so ago, and the performance is disappointing on my rig.

3700x and a 3080 and constant pauses and stutters.

FPS sits at around 65 at 3440 1440 but with this constant 'hitching' its fair from fluid.

As usual with steam, there appears to be a premium edition & 'passes' (DLC?).

Is the base game OK? Are any of these essential, or worth the money on their own? TIA.

IMHO the base game is fine - there's a stack of content to be getting on with. It is a slow paced game and completing tasks around just the first couple of maps can take quite a bit of time (10's of hours). You'll then get a feel for whether you'd like to purchase the additional content or not. Personally I haven't puchased any of the additional vehicles but I do have the Year 1 pass to get the additional maps/missions.

In a nutshell - you won't be losing out by starting off with the base game.

Just to add to the above, indeed the base game is fine and there's plenty to get yourself into but if you're like me, you really get hooked into the game, then other editions do add much content. I bought the premium edition on release which includes year 1 (four seasons of DLC) and adds much content to the game. Though you could get it when it's perhaps on sale but IMO it is worth getting at least the premium edition with all year 1 content but only if you're think you gonna like the game (similar to Mudtires although way better).

Cheers Rich/Soya, I'll make a decision later. I'll probably get the premium / year pass, as I have a tenner in my account from a refund :D

Anyone still play this?
I've been putting quite a lot of hours in this week, and really enjoying it after quite a while of not playing.
Some days just aren't your day though. So many costly mistakes today, took about an hour fixing a mess I'd got a truck recovery into.

Really think this style of game could do with a Death Stranding style community map improvement effort. Everyone chipping away, delivering supplies/materials to repair or rebuild roads, etc... Maybe if you roll the truck, put out a call for help and a random could join to help you out.

Thats one of its strengths, perhaps surprisingly, Snowrunner is actually one of the best Co-op games I've played in recent years.

SnowRunner is apart of the Spintire series which are games that can bring enjoyment but its quite easy to slip-up and get stuck on one of the levels, for example i play MudRunner another game apart of the Spintire series and messed up on one of the levels by crashing my truck into a ditch which resulted in me having to restart the whole level.

It does feel a bit post-apocalyptic, but I don't think too much about it. :D
I hear the next game the team are making will be an offroad racing game, but I'm not interested in that. A "next gen" mud/snowrunner is something I hope we get to see, but there's maybe not that much more that could be done with it other than graphics.

Same here.

The world is empty, though.

Zero wildlife, no animals, birds, no people, no traffic.

Should have been called "Snowrunner, after the Apocalypse".
Not true, honk your horn and you will see loads of birds. Plus there are wolfs and bears but they only appear at a distance.

The only thing that bugs me is the pickups drive so bad on normal tarmac roads - Drive at 30-60mph on the few roads and the truck is all over the shop! I kind of lost confidence in the physics model.

I do agree some signs of civilisation would do wonders to the world! Some other trucks, passing cars, people to add a bit of life. I do need to get back into this as I think it'll be a great companion for the Steam Deck.

I saw some videos about this game earlier this week and I've been hankering after something single player I could sit back and play casually for a few hours. Looked interesting, and it was only 15 quid on Steam. Picked it up yesterday, installed it in the morning and decided to give it a try as I had no plans. Kind of expected I might get bored and refund it within a couple of hours, but wanted to give it a try.

Im absolutely hooked. I played the whole day, literally did the thing where suddenly you look up, and it's dark. Checked Steam as I quit and I'd been playing my first session for 8.5 hours :D

I'm not quite sure what's so appealing, it's basically just picking stuff up in trucks and carrying it somewhere else. But it's immensely satisfying to have a game where you actually have to think about the driving element...traction, grip, power to weight, gearing, towing, etc. Great problem solving game. I think this might be the next Civ, I can see myself losing many an evening to it.

When you describe what you need to do to anyone, they look at you like you have a problem. It's a truly good game though.
