Snowrunner

When you describe what you need to do to anyone, they look at you like you have a problem. It's a truly good game though.
Indeed. I have a friend who tried it on Xbox game pass before me, and he's giving it another go too. I'm on PC but later this week we're going to see if we can meet up and try crossplay co-op.

I got make some time to get back into this. Haven't played it for close to a year now, RL stuff etc.

One of the few games that I really got into (alongside the likes of msfs). I remember playing the game for the first time but I didn't like it too much, as I got past the 2 hour mark (couldn't refund it) I got more and more frustrated and then after another 3-4 hours or so it just clicked. I realized I was bring the wrong mindset/attitude to this game, was trying to play it a bit like the likes of Forza, do things quickly, get annoyed when it is not perfect etc. But once I realized it is more about problem solving and carefully looking at your route & tracks, plus planning and experience in your truck, then I was really getting a lot out of it. As most have said above. Multiplayer is certainly fun but ideally all on voice and you'll need people happy to work together and be patient (not an easy task on the internet nowadays). Also, though the world is pretty enough, it does feel like a painting, pretty but devoid of life. Needs a few more things just to feel it a bit more lived in, especially during single player sessions.

Sorry for necro but this is the only Snowrunner thread I can find.

Anyhow just a heads up, Season 15 just dropped today which adds two more maps, this time purportedly in Quebec though probably looks nothing like the real location. Just added it to my collection but now got to decide whether I'm jumping out of Austria to give it a go or waiting until I've got a bit more done there first.

I have just returned to playing this after a hiatus. I have a bit of a completionist obsession, which occasionally causes my interest to lapse for a bit when I'm on a map which has too much sticky mud! I'm in N. Carolina (season 12) currently, and back to thoroughly enjoying it again. :)

Thought it was worth sharing my efficiency based approach to completing regions. It is called the DICK code:

  • Discovery - exploring, using watchtowers, and using the exploration trailer to fill in any black or grey that the towers don't reach.

  • Infrastructure - performing any contracts or tasks which clear road blockages.

  • Contracts - completing all the tasks which contribute to the main aims of the region.

  • Keverything else - complete all the rest, even if it kills you!

Recently, I have made a small change to this approach which I call the "Just the Tip" protocol. This simply allows for minor blurring of the lines between those elements where it increases efficiency - e.g. carrying some planks to repair a bridge while en-route to an unexplored region.

You are all very welcome. ;)

One note: Despite my completionist bent, I don't do the time trial stuff. I think I object to it because it feels like it is against the overall vibe of the game to do stuff as quickly as you can.
