So close yet so far

PSU looks fine to me. Yeah you still want those 12 (8+4) pins connected to the CPU power on the mobo.

Try as Mcnumpty suggested and remove the motherboard battery (it's a flat circle type) - looking at your mobo pics I think it's covered with a cover cap with Asus logo on it, or branded their battery god knows lol

Can you see a flat circle battery, just below the graphics card on the mobo? You might have to remove GPU to see it. But you want to remove that battery, leave it out for 2 minutes, pop it back in and then try boot the PC again.

OP hasn't built a PC before, so do need to explain these things for him.

The diagnostic LEDs are just above the big 24-pin ATX power cable you connect on the motherboard. Do they light up at all when you try boot? Take a good look as they are small.

Don't forget to try remove the BIOS battery too and re-seat it after 2 minutes as mentioned.

Right, I've removed the BIOS battery and replaced it and tried turning it on with no joy. Then tried bridging the gap for the power button with a screwdriver also with no joy.
Is there any way to test so that I can say 100% it is the motherboard or the CPU etc?

Found the LEDs but they're not turning on at all either.
Also removed the GPU and a stick of RAM to see whether it is maybe trying to power too many different systems but still no joy

Might be worth calling OcUK tech support? They might suggest you RMA one of the parts like mobo/CPU or something.

Think you've pretty much tried everything possible. Guess you don't live anywhere in Lincolnshire? I'd of popped to help if you was local :p

riiiight, kudos to OCUK they're tech support was pretty great just now. Called them and they're fine to replace the motherboard for me, just need to send the old one back and they'll whack off a new one to me.
Thanks for all your help, I'll let you know once I've got the new one.
They think it's a dead board

Not ideal, but at least hopefully a plan forward! No point keep looping the same fixes you've tried a few times now.

Hopefully it is just the mobo and the replacement gets you up and running quickly mate.

So interesting development, my motherboard is apparently fine according to OCUK and they're sending it back to me (probably a good thing since I realised after I returned it that I forgot to remove the AM4 standoff screws for the AIO cooler, oops). Could it be the PSU that is causing the issue, maybe it's not supplying enough power to the PC to get everything working???
Thanks :)

I'd say build it out of the case next. Rest the motherboard on the motherboard box (not the anti static bag) and plug everything in.

Well not everything, in fact the bare minimum you need to get into the bios.

The PSU is more than powerful enough, don't worry about that.

It has to be cable related, or the motherboard isn't grounded properly in the case when you install it. The stand-offs are in the case right, so the motherboard is raised and not touching the metal? As it can short and stop it from booting.

Or it could be another component is potentially faulty... CPU / PSU etc.

Speaking of the PSU... I just remembered that when I first tried to turn the power on the PSU was also turned on at the same time so rather than turning on the power at the wall then turning the PSU on it went straight through the PSU. Will this have caused any issues or am I just making up problems that aren't really there?
