So did anyone buy the Dell 24in ST2410?

Blacks are important to me, i.e distinguishable from pure black to darkest greys. Im just wondering if yours needed calibrating or not.

Can others report on the blacks performance?

Well my understanding is that black level is affected by turning down the brightness? I'll admit I know next to nothing about monitor calibration so maybe I'm missing something. All I know is that with the brightness turned down and playing a game with very dark scenes the monitor could never achieve pure black, only a dark grey. This is when playing in the dark however, but even messing around with the brightness and contrast levels of the game itself didn't help either.

Have a look at this website for LCD monitor calibrations, may improve things little: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

Viewing angle - fine if your sitting infront of the screen but it's a TN so there not going to be great.

I'm hovering over the buy button.... if anyone has anything to say about TN's and if they are going to give me faint blurry black bars at top and botom and how far at an angle can I be? Speak now.

Well currently its everywhere for 200 ish but on the makers site 155 if u use the special link (google might help) so currently i reckon its the best u can get for under 200 notes. So if you have more money then get a better panel but if not then just have to go with this imo. Thats what i did.

Well when Ross asked he got a reply within 1 min. My hand is hurting from hovering my mouse over the buy button for 8 hours. I just wanna know if TN's will give me problems or not. :)

I would reply with the answer but I'm not experienced with monitors and how other things compare to tn panels. It's miles better than my laptop screen though :). To me everything is perfect. It's all about what you have previously used really.

So am I better off buying this or the Samsung SM2429HM? I need VGA, DVI and HDMI but I like that the sammy has an adjustable stand. That price isn't that different. Can get sammy for around £230.

I have 3 questions. Would be very happy if someone could answer.

Is it possible to turn off the dynamic contrast ratio?
Is there any kind of buzz when you have the monitor on?
Is there any kind of buzz that starts when you lower brightness?
