So did anyone buy the Dell 24in ST2410?

Hope i didn't cause any offence i just didn't want people to be misleaded into expecting a DVI cable and then not receive one, such as Jynmagic.

Great that you and Robert got one though, i could have used a spare one to hook up a second 19" that is now connected through VGA instead.

I haven't recieved the monitor yet, I just checked the "what's the box" section after I bought it and it didn't list a dvi cable. Maybe I'll get one, who knows :).

New batch?

Sounds like the latest 'batch' of the monitors have the DVI cable in it.... joy all round if so.

Expecting mine in the next few days so will advise what I get and other potential identifying information for the batch/revision.

I bought 5 last week for my team to use at work. I've got one and whereas I'm not a fan of the white back, it doesn't really bother me.

It's quite plasticky, but panel wise, it's fantastic. It's never going to be as good as the top end panels, but theres no bleed and the back light is uniform.

Colour repro isn't enthusiast standard, but its more than adequate for work use.

I probably prefer the 1920x1200 on the 2405FPW I have at home for home use, but the 1920x1080 is great for using two apps at once or for TS sessions.

What you reckon i should do, order now and hope they dont send it off asap but more like they will send it starting monday or tuesday so it gives the refund time to get in the bank or just wait till i have the money in full then order it.

Dell is now saying:

Usually Ships In: 1-2 Weeks

So looks like there's a backlog to fill.

I ordered Friday about midday but didn't check the usually ships in estimate at the time.

Update: Delivery due tomorrow morning.

OK, got mine this morning and said I'd write a review.

First thoughts are:

Out of the box I found the screen to be a little doll, changed the brightness and resolved for me.

Colours are excellent for the price paid, not going to match an IPS but I'm a 'bad' gamer so really does not matter to me.

Viewing angle - fine if your sitting infront of the screen but it's a TN so there not going to be great.

Game play, no input lag or very low lag and pixel refresh feels better then the 2ms rated on my old LG. Remember there are 2 ratings, black - black and Grey - Grey. This monitor has a typical of 5ms (same as the LG) for black to black but LG qoute to the Grey - Grey. It depends on the Manufacture which figure they quote.

I could go on about the size of it, but others have been there.

OSD - very simple to use with verious preset you can use. Of course you can change almost everyone your self.

I give the screen 4.5 out of 5 and would advise peeps to go for it if you can source it at the right price.

Cheers

P.S - came with a VGA preinstalled cable - no problem to me as I've got loads of DVI's.

Just recieved my monitor (odered last week thursday), and I'm very pleased with it :). In terms of how it peforms technically I can't really say as this is my first flat screen monitor (I've been using a laptop for the past two years). On the other hand, what I can say is that there is no noticable backlight bleeding, no dead pixels and, well the image looks great. The montor itself looks fantastic, and the power light is very subtle. My one only came with a blue VGA cable though :(, others got the DVI.

I'm currently running the minitor display through my laptop as I haven't built my new rig yet. Will post pictures later (can't find that darn usb cable ).

Edit* I went back to using my laptop monitor after playing with the dell one for a while and HOLY ****!!! I never realised how garbage the laptop display was xD.

Thanks for the review :).

I've got a Hyundai Q17+ 17" monitor atm and am upgrading to a Dell ST2410 soon (need to collect it from my parents house).

Just looked at a few spec comparisons between the 2:

Hyundai Q17+
Native resolution: 1280x1024
Contrast: 500:1 (typical)
Luminance: 250 cd/m2
Latency: 12 ms
Angles of vision (H/V): 150/135

Dell ST2410
Optimal Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Contrast Ratio: 50000:1 (max)
Brightness: 250 cd/m2
Response Time: 5ms
Viewing Angle: (160 vertical / 160 horizontal)

Should be a decent upgrade, and should use less power!

Not really sure why I'm surprised that a modern monitor is better than a 4/5 year old one ;)

I'm another owner of the ST2410, however I am sending it back as I'm not happy with it.

Now, for the price I paid it's a good deal, especially if it's being used for general computer use or some gaming and films in a brighter room. However in my case I'm not impressed with the black levels of the monitor, which I understand is to do with the type of panel. I'm coming from using a CRT monitor and I tend to play games in a dark room so I'm critical of black levels. Perhaps no LCD can give me the performance I'm after in that regard.

I didn't notice any ghosting in games, and I only ran an Xbox 360 through it but it looked very sharp. So sharp infact that I saw more imperfections than I was used to on my CRT TV, but I also saw where the Xbox's graphics were being hampered by the very same telly. I also didn't find the viewing angles to be acceptable and given the width of the monitor I found it more noticable than on an old 19" samsung LCD, but again, it's a limitation of the TN panel.

Anyway, I still think it's a good deal if you're aware of it's limitations, for me though I'll be l'll be looking at alternatives. However if I want to step up to a decent sized full HD monitor then perhaps I'll have to accept both the good and bad points of LCD compared to a CRT monitor.
