So excited..

It has the same problems that the TMS maps do. They are a generic map not in anyway tailored to your car. They also make excellent power

but do they though? we all know what tuners are like for power claims and i saw on that vx board how they claimed a 2.2 NA 4cyl gained 17bhp from a chip :D

peak figures mean naff all imo, but with the better delivery of the courtney plot, id actually put my money on the courtney car being faster

courtney have been doing it since the year dot, when did thorney start?

Its a well known fact that if you have your credit card in your hand at the time of the mapping, this adds up to 50hp to your final figures. It is believed to work better than having a well thumbed copy of max power on the rear seats.

From experience - Figures with card in hand 279. Figures at an RR day - 249. Managed to lose 30HP on the way home, DOH! :)

yup... ive seen that happen

one guy goes to a tuner, he scores 179 when havving something setup. eight days later, and i was there, the car only turns in 160something, at the same garage on the same rollers operated by the same tuner...

AKA dyno lottery

To be fair to them though, everybody mocked them over their 300bhp Corsa VXRs. They said it wasnt possible and it was all just them fiddling with the rollers. Then wayne rolled up at powerstation and made 300bhp exactly as they said it would. And we know that powerstations rollers can be ruthless...

I was dubious over the Powerstation graph Wayne posted.

ATW was taken at 212BHP, yet they somehow pulled 305BHP from that? nearly 100BHP transmission loss would be boiling gearbox oil, I'm sure.

thats powerstations rollers mate

they have 2 rollers per wheel so the wheel drag is greater

thus the power at the wheels figure is artificially low. However the powerstation dyno measures this drag on coastdown to calculate the "at the fly figure" and account for this.

In short, ignore powerstations at the wheels figure as its meaningless

We've had loads of dyno days at powerstation and have this every time :) for what its worth my car made bang on 276.5bhp (stock is 280 PS) before my remap on there rollers, so they are accurate.

thats one of the things about Courtenay.

John and the guys are brutually honest. Its just the way they do business. I heard them turn away a guy who wanted to use a megasquirt ECU as they told him there was no need for a standalone ECU as the standard one was fine.

its honestly like that that got courtenay the reputation it has.

Is it good these days? When I was interested in Vauxhall tunning 8 or so years ago they were widely regarded as a bunch of cowboys. Low quality turbo conversions and dodgy brake upgrades. I think the later caused the orginal company (Courtenay turbo or something like that) to go bust after getting sued.

Well my cars going back into Throney Friday as, the boost sensor fault has returned along with a fault with the Lamda sensor. They think the boost fault could be the MAF. Lets hope this is the last time as its a 3hr + round trip each time.
