So I’m sat in Sainsbury’s car park…

At work the other day a bloke parked his old knackered Astra next to a great looking 840i (appeared to be wrapped in a sort of rose-gold colour that shifted with the light) and proceeded to slam his door into the BMW with such force that it set off the alarm off. He just got back into the Astra and drove off.
So...criminal damage for some reason.

Same here and it's always a 4x4 or a bloody van.

I saw something similar to the OP in Asda Elgin on Friday. The car park was heaving with most slots taken and a 15 minute queue to get out. Going back to our car there was this bint in a silver Zafira trying to reverse out of a slot. First she went straight back with no steering lock on then she drove forward with full right lock on then realised she was nowhere near going to get around so she reversed straight into the bumper of a black BMW X5. Then she drove forward and back again straight into the bumper again. She then drove forward again and almost got around but needed one more reverse, you guessed it, into the X5's bumper to make sure before driving off. A couple of people were shouting at her to stop before she hit the X5 but she paid them no attention at any point in this farce. Luckily one bloke had his phone out filmimg it and left his details on the X5's windscreen. Despite seeing the X5's bumper being pushed in the only visible damage was scuffs to the paintwork. So many people have these big cars and they have zero spacial awareness or how to drive them (or even drive at all for that matter). They feel safe and superior in their tanks while causing all matter of chaos around them and not realising what they are doing or care about what they are doing. Something needs to change.

Unrelated - I grew up in Elgin in the 90’s. I remember ASDA being built, replacing a scrapyard with Buccaneers in it…

Love my 10 year old volvo.

It's actually in pretty good condition and low mileage for its age, but I have no issues gaffa taping and self spray painting when necessary.

It's not on what those people in the car park did, but at the same time I look and anyone with a fancy car in this day and had thinking I don't envy them in the slightest.

Next time, use 'masking/painters tape' instead of gaffa when spray painting it, that way you don't have to respray the paint you rip off elsewhere when you remove the gaffa tape ;) :D

SUVs are gods punishment to us as a species.

God I hate them.
THIS! Yet another reason to love you my brother!

THE definition of how to make a car look ****, zero imagination blob, not fit in any space, handle like a hippo on rollerskates, weigh tonnes, not gain any extra storage/comfort over an estate, a pain to park anywhere without relying on cameras... All you've gotta do to get a 10/10 worst car award is get the EV version and you win the **** of the decade award! 95% are driven by people on their own and serve no purpose, who can't drive, and most aren't awd and cant go off road, just a pretend 4x4/lifted up hatchback/saloon squashed into a ball with a vice look.

The funniest thing, is that all the people that own them on here seem to think they know about cars/are enthusiasts yet pay someone else to do everything:cry: even an oil change  But talk like they could restore/maintain a classic and think they have 'taste' with their finance lol.

Good job you have lots of other body styles to choose from. Would be awkward if we all liked the same thing.

I will always try and wait and tell the owners when I see this happen. It a shame how often this happens and the reason I only ever take the crappy work van shopping!

It's the worst time of the year. All the idiots are out. Avoid roads and car parks!
I've been genuinely amazed at some of the driving I've seen the last few days. It's like a year's worth of Sunday drivers compressed into one weekend.

Much of it, I'm sad to say, is a good case for taking licenses away from elderly people if they can't pass a retest.

Exactly, so why choose something with the styling of a house brick with zero individuality to it.

They basically take an ok boring modern looking saloon, squash it raise it up, make it even heavier, and achieve nothing, no extra luggage capacity/storage/head or leg room... Pointless.

I've never seen 1 that looks even mildly good. Just A fridge on wheels all smoothed out with zero character/attraction visually.

did you manage to speak to the owners ?
you could walk in the store and go to the customer service desk to tannoy the drivers , or you could write on a bit of paper (yes this is still a thing) and put it under their wipers

Sales figures would suggest you opinion is in a minority. I’d love an EQC if I could afford one.

Oh, and if you want my definition of pointless, try every saloon ever made - how to take a hatchback and make it less useful. If you want something that looks good and carries a lot, try an estate.

In my opinion, of course.

I couldn't give a **** what sales figures say, they're all financed by people that haven't got a clue about cars and copycat other people for a 'safe bet' styling wise to 'fit in' with what their neighbours have etc etc. If someone actually buys one outright, they're just as dumb. Half of the time those figures are bogus anyway and engineered for marketing to sell the cars.

Like these mind numbing ******** that buy 'crossovers', stupid lifted hatchbacks which serve ZERO purpose over a hatchback and gain nothing... Hello Vauxhall Mokka drivers...

It's just being pushed as the new estate now and people are falling for it.

TBF a saloon tends to have a bit better head/leg room in the back and big enough boots for most people, but I do love how a hatchback is basically like having a van if you have something where the seats can go flat, you can fit stupid amounts of stuff in them!

Yeah fast wagons FTW mate. I'm coupe guy by preference, but I'd def have a fast estate over a saloon, as if I was considering buying a saloon, I'd just get the coupe version - which is always undeniably better looking.
The only time I'd buy a saloon over a coupe is IF it was a saloon only car, like an older M5...

I do love how the old touring cars took boring saloons and wagons, and made them into mental race cars.
