So, PlayStation+, who's in?

I had the vast majority of the stuff in the first month already, but the digital copy of LBP was a good incentive.
I swapped my BD LBP for a copy of Bionic Commando, so in the end I kind of got a free game I didn't already have anyway.
The auto updates are fine by me and the discounts will inevitably come in handy down the line.
I'll get my money's worth, I always do.

I've got mine set for 10am-12pm, so I might be able to look when I get home tonight, but I think it checks every 2 days, so it might do it on Thurs.

So does the auto update work as expected then? Has anyone been able to try it out, does it successfully download patches for all your games?

I tried it and it downloaded 3 gigs of demos that I had already previously tried out and deleted, was quite annoying as I have limited bandwidth.

If you guys want to test it straight away you can set it to a time that falls within the time you have on your watch right now, switch off your system and it should start right back up again and check for updates.

That's pretty disappointing; I assume it has a set list of demo's which get pushed out over this each week/month, but a bit of an oversight if it can't work out that you've already downloaded it before (or even worse actually own the game!).

Will be interested to hear if the auto game patching element works.

With regards to the auto update feature I just read this reply to a thread I made in the official Playstation forums,

"I took this up with the guy on the PS blog

He said its not supposed to download demos that you'e already previously downloaded however everyone I know had it happen to them."

So that probably means that it's just not working right atm so should hopefully get fixed.

i personally dont think its worth the money, your basically paying £40 a year to rent some games (which you have no choice over and may already have) and a couple of features which you could easily live without.

automatic downloading for instance, how often are game updates applied? once in a blue moon, so its not the end of the world if you have to wait 5 mins every now and again.

I had to reinstall PAIN after I got a refurb PS3 and it was horrible, update after update after update, hundreds of MB's

You could have a PSN+ only chat room lol, BTW the adding funds problem seems to be sorted now.
I want to replay field runners had it on the Iphone and enjoyed it, anyone know when the full game downloads start?

Just signed up for PSN+. I bought a years subscription and so far I've downloaded Wipeout HD, Littlebigplanet dynamic theme and Destruction Derby. I've set the PS3 to do the automatic downloading thing between 4-6am so hopefully it'll pull all the Wipeout patches down the phoneline for me. If it does LBP as well then I'll be impressed. :)

I'm just worried that this could be the first small step to eventually following MS into charging for online play.

I know Sony have said that this won't effect the quality of the normal PSN, but they're hardly going to say anything else. Financial models change, and who's to say that a year down the line, if they have a good take up on PSN+ they announce that it is financially impractical to keep a free online service running.

I may just be being cynical, but if Sony feel that they can get away with charging for online services - they probably will. :(
