Got mine back today.

The note inside said they had repaired the motherboard and DVD drive so my 360 now has a BenQ drive which it didn't before, dunno if that's a good or bad thing but the console works and the whole process was pretty effortless.

As I said it works fine as far as I can tell and of course got the standard month of live for free. My first impressions of the repair service are very good as I only sent it last Monday.

Sorry to hear yours isn't working OP.

I sent one back today. I phoned them up at 11. They emailed the forum to me at 12. I phoned up the automated UPS service and it was picked up a 4.30.

Can't grumble with that really.

I'm thinking of getting another for downstairs now the misses got me the rockband stuff. Seen a deal for a premium with 3 games for 180 all in, if your deal is better than that , let me know please.
 
Same happened with me.

I sent my machine back because the DVD drive wasn't reading discs.
I got back a new machine and after two days, the drive was making really loud noises and crashing. I sent that one back and got another new machine.

Trouble with this latest one is that I switch it on and it starts up, but does nothing. I switch off and on and it then works properly. I didn't send it straight back as Halo 3 came out the next day. I really need to do at some stage!

Hardly, my launch PS3 broke (Dispite barely being used) .. stopped reading disks of all variety .. the horrid PS2 disk read error strikes again.

Called sony to ask about repair (its out of warrenty ofc), only to be told that there is no such problem as Disk read errors on any of their consoles, ever, and its down to mis-usage that i have this problem, and as such they wont be repairing it even for a fee, but i can go buy another one! ...

Im surprised Sony have never heard of a disk read error. They swap the console on your door, which is nice.

Id ring up MS and demand a new one.

Changing the Blu-Ray drive yourself isn't particularly difficult.
 
I've had two PS3's bite the dust from a disc read error!

60Gb stopped reading discs, they didn't show up on the XMB and had a 40Gb do the same.

Current one is OK though. :p
 
Phoned them this morning ( after motivating myself to do so )
Getting a free game posted to me.
UPS are coming to collect the console within the next 5 working days ? O.o Thanks for telling me when ?!
I will get a "working" console back to me within two weeks from it being collected.

When it comes back I might sell it or Just *shock horror* spend the money and buy a PS3.
I only use my console for fifa / guitar hero / watching films.
The PS3 comes with a blue ray player aswell.
