So Thanks Microsoft

Indeed.

Although I don't know what an aunament is.

lol, spelling is atrocious these days.. He's trying to say Ornament. Though my 2 PS3's are anything but 'Ornaments' Actually they are now my main blu-ray players, as well as my 'ahem' digital download HD movie players, as well as my MP3 collection, without having to have a pc on, or mp3 player plugged in, player. My photo (once again without having to have a pc on) collection slideshow viewer, oh and it plays games too...... The ONLY thing i can say about the 360 that is better is that it has a couple decent exclusives (but which console doesn't) and some of the Live titles such as Geometry Wars and Pac-Man CE are a must have... Outside of this, its a noisy and unreliable piece of crap.

It may be in no way connected but I had an Elite give me artifacts so I took it back to the shop and they swapped it for a brand new one for me. I plugged it in first time and I got the three red lights on a completely brand new console. I unplugged all the cables again and pushed them all in as tightly as I could and it started up perfectly and has ever since. Very weird but I would always try that again after that happened.

Never had a red ring yet, though had 1 HDD failure and 2 consoles with failed DVD drives. One was OOW so haven't had it fixed yet, but the first time I sent the first one in for repair, they sent it back still faulty.

The repair sheet you get back with it had a mark IN BETWEEN "DVD drive" and "Motherboard" on their checklist, like they weren't even bothered with what they did. Of course, plugged it in and the drive still wouldn't read anything. Straight back to them, and they did it right second time.

Still, from what I gather most of them are repaired by Teleplan, who are dodgy at best with regards to repair quality.

Got mine back yesterday after a 2 week stint in Germany.

They've replaced the DVD drive which they say was faulty but it was actually working perfectly. Still, I'm not complaining as the new drive is quieter than the original.

Ignoring the fact it shouldn't have broken in the first place the MS repair service has been great for me.
