Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. So what do you buy now?

Far more value but still less performance for higher TDP.

Actually debatable that, Vega had a bunch of bad press and reviews, ppl not understanding how to use then properly. I can use less than 300w and achieve 1700mhz for the big overclock, or around 170w I can hit around 1550mhz. It's not as power hungry as all the brainwashed think. You can undervolt them and get very impressive core speeds which is still perfect for 1440p, high eye candy and 100fps gaming.

So with many people set on upgrading and setting money aside for the 2080/2070 myself included....

Now what?

After the initial conference we are now seeing masses boycotting and choosing to use the money for other parts or things.

I’m going to use the money I would have spent upgrading from the 1080 and get a PS4 Pro ready for Red Dead Redemption 2, I think I’ll pick one up tomorrow. :D

i am fishing for a 2nd hand 1080ti... but given you can buy new with games for £630 most people imo are expecting too much. so far my (imo reasonable) offers of £460 have been rejected.

if i get one great, if not i will re-evaluate once the 2080 is benchmarked in current games by reliable sources. I have the cash for a 2080ti but i am loath to spend that on a gpu out of principle.... esp when 7nm may be out by the end of next year.

Not that I was going to entertain a 20xx card but were I then the budget has mostly already gone on 18 days in Cyprus and what’s left will be going toward a new (read from the MM) Board/CPU/RAM perhaps in the new year.

Eventually a second 1080ti for SLI but not for a very long time, a: they are still way too expensive even used and b: I’m perfectly happy with the 4K performance of my current one. (which I paid no where near current prices for)

Currently have a Fury Nitro and had about £500 set aside for one of these new cards. Not sure what to do now... tempted by the Vega 64!

My current rig will last a while still as i don't play as much AAA games. When the time comes to build a new rig, hopefully there will be more competition within the GPU market.

I won't be paying silly money for GPUs or any component for a that matter.

My main rig 390X, running 1600p died in January, a months past warranty. I then used my second rig, running 1080p but the 7950 also died!!! I picked up a second hand 290x recently for the second rig but have been hanging on and on for my main rig replacement . I've given up on waiting and the 20 series is beyond my limit. Any suggestions on what I should go for? I've got an eye on WCing the GPU, so not too worried about the fan coolers. Budget of £450 max, not including WC block that I'll look at later. I'm wondering if a 1070 would be a good idea and take a look again next year to see what's new.

My main concern about this debacle. Is that I had money said aside for a CPU upgrade this year. But with no "hope" for the GPU market for the next year or so. Is there any point? Might as well keep saving and just buy a whole new system once decent and sensibly priced GPUs return.

At these sorts of silly prices... it makes my upgrade to Coffee Lake look cheap (IE.£530 for new CPU and top tier mobo). You've got to laugh really.

Can't see my OC'd 1070 paired with a decent Gsync monitor is going to struggle anytime soon. So what if I have to drop from Ultra settings down to Very high, I think that I can live with that.

As usual though, it's up to every individual as to what they want to do. Free will and all that.

Though I shall continue to watch the proceedings unfold with interest (especially when bench marks start to come out).

You may be able to get a decent 1080Ti for that, which would last you a hell of a long time. Maybe have to add another another £20/30 but well well worth it :)

Yeah, it's whether I go max budget now and live with it for a few years, or spend less and buy again next year when the next new thing lands. I assume you mean 2nd hand 1080ti for that price?

Yup. If you want the best value I'd suggest a second-hand 1070Ti, as fast as a 1080 pretty much and a fair few quid cheaper.

Having watched, I'm almost decided on a 1080Ti. Not keen on auction sites and don't have enough posts for access to the MM. Seeing some big price drops in the US, not so much here. How low do we think prices of new cards will go in the UK?
