So, what doesn't work on your car?

I have managed to break the inside release handle on the drivers door on my e39,the part I need to fix it is under £40 with the VAT, trouble is, finding the time to get around to fixing it. I have to open my window to get out :o I'll wear out the motor if I'm not careful! :D

Also, the rear cup holder kept springing out on its own, so I've ragged it out completely with no intent on replacing it!

If I have not got around to fixing the door by the time its next service comes around I'll probably get the garage to fix it, I tend to do more damage than good with my DIY repairs.....

The Climate control works i.e. it heats up or cools down as & when i want it to although the fan assistance seems to have died, the fan is buried in the dash and given it was the same when I had the car last December and had no problem de-misting / icing I'll probably leave it. Its a big job and more than likely to end up with an annoying squeak if I did it myself or the same squeak / rattle if I got a garage to do it plus a large bill!

Everything else works, right down to the built in car phone!

Not bad imo for a car thats near 15years old & has covered circa 270k miles!

Everything works on my boxster... mind you there is not a whole lot to go wrong.

Things on their way out though include the radio - evey now and then ill have to pull the fuse as it gets stuck. It also hates copied cd's. Oh and the passenger seatbelt fastener squeeks.

Forgot to mention that I need to replace a headlight bulb... other than that its all good.

Ford Focus

The rear wiper doesn't work, I think it's the actual motor but upon checking the prices for a replacement seemed a bit high so i have ignored it since :p

The front passeneger door speaker is intermittent, it sometimes goes off, turning up the volume super load can often make it come back on. I keep planning to take the door panel off to have a look but never get around to it.

On the back of this thread I have just booked my car in for MOT, tyres at the front and a major service as well as ordered new track rod ends for the front and polly bushes all round.

Still have no idea if it will pass an MOT yet.

This damn thread has cursed my car, since posting that only my aircon is broken, the exhaust has started blowing at the manifold end, probably the flexi which is part of the cat! And a hanger has snapped off the backbox. New full exhaust time I guess!

2010 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Econetic

Cruise control does not work correctly, occasionally turns itself on without warning, Ford dealer unable to find a fault (Note that I have not actually had an accident because of this)
Driver's seat backrest gradually falls back over the course of a few hours driving, Ford dealer unable to find a fault
One of the air vents also wont retain it's position and gradually closes itself over the course of a few hours driving, haven't even bothered mentioning it to Ford since they can't even fix the seat or the cruise control

1993 Nissan Cefiro SE-4

eh? I guess the driver's electric window motor is starting to wear out after 18 years. Still works for now but it's a bit noisy and a bit slow. Probably just needs greasing.

Tell Ford to do one and replace the CC unit and the seat!

Company lease car so I don't have that luxury.

With the cruise control I reckon it's the switch anyway. I'm also not dumb enough to actually drive into the back of someone because of this fault, just need to press a pedal and it turns off again.

That said, as an already reported fault, it's my get out of jail free card if I ever do drive into something ;)
(This is a joke BTW)

Get on the phone to the lease company and tell them do one then!
Or at least the bloke in your office who's responsible for it.

Lease company are incompetent, didn't even pass on the fault details but instead booked the car in for an unnecessary service. Corporate fleet aren't much better.

Not naming the lease company involved, but here's a hint: If a Scouser or Mancunian had a sister called Valerie, they might refer to her by the same name as the lease company.

I've given up caring, it's the only way to survive at my company.

Weak.

eh. I'll keep bringing it up, it's in for a third time in as many weeks over a less important problem, first time because the fault wasn't passed on and second time because they ordered the wrong part.

I have my good reliable Datsun if I need it. :)

Hmm on my 02 vectra theres a few,

Down, left and right dont work on my electric mirrors
My sony explode cd player wont play mp3's anymore
Central locking doesnt open my back pasanger door
Brake pad warning light refuses to turn off dispite changing the pads, disks and sensors all round.

2001 Toyota Celica, the volume knob on the radio intermittently stops working, known problem with the stock unit. Also seems to have developed a belt whine over the past week, guessing its the alternator belt in need of tightening as its worse on cold start ups.

mk3 golf

drivers side window is dicky. does go up and down, dont use it too much though.

headunit

mk4 golf

rear wiper is stuck verticle

An annoying one on my Astra is the hot/cold air mixture selector seems to have stuck ever so slightly towards the hot end of the scale. It will mix cold air into it, but I can never get plain cold air, it always feels like it's throwing a bit of hot into it as well.

Was annoying on the hot days we had this year.
