So, what doesn't work on your car?

'99 306 Dturbo:

1. Air Conditioning doesn't work. It detects when it's hot and might need to come on but it never sends any cold air my way. Not really bothered and I doubt I'll bother fixing it as I usually just have the windows down.
2. A temporary/intermittent thing. Sometimes when I start the car none of the dials (Speedo, rev counter, temperature, fuel and oil level indicator) work for a few minutes. Sometimes they'll take a minute or two to work properly, other times it'll take five. When they don't work the speedo needle will spin around to 140MPH and back again while the rev counter needle spins around to 6000RPM and back again. Aspirational, but annoying. Depends on the temperature outside and whether the car feels like it I think.

The alternator on the Manta is nearing the end of it's service life. If I have the fan, wipers, lights and stereo on all at once it doesn't give sufficient output and I start losing voltage at the battery.

Other than that, all good.

One of my rear passenger window switches appears not to work. I can open the window from the front though. I rarely have rear passengers though so I doubt I will ever fix it.

Other than that, everything works :)

+1

Kinda a good thing for me seeing as my little girl can't use it :)

2002 BMW 330d Sport.

Was working fine until last week. Now the climate control doesn't blow out any hot/cold air when you turn it up or down. :(

On my combo van, heater doesn't work well, back door stopped unlocking today and the knob bit at the end of the window winder falls off nearly every time i use it!

On my audi, nearly everything..... (except the 4wd system!!!!)

1995 BMW 328 Sport,

Drivers window doesn't always one touch, needs a new sensor i believe

Passenger washer jet blocked again.

Coolant level sensor goosed. Need a new one.

other than that, fine!

Never a perfect car in my house! :D

Never work: Rear Parking Sensors, Passenger side electric folding mirror, sunglasses holder, handsfree phone

Doesn't work well: Heated front windscreen

Very Ocassionally don't work: Drivers door lock, rear electric sunblind, seatbelt sensor

All problems that just aren't worth fixing (apart maybe from the parking sensors) - I generally put up with issues like these on cars - glad I'm not a perfectionist. Given the amount of kit in the car - most of still works very well.

N reg VW Polo.

Drive over 65 mph the passenger winger mirror folds in.

If you have the headlights on, the windscreen wipers, radio and then indicate the engine cuts out.

Ratchet in the handbrake is broken - a big book works to hold it in place though.

BMW Z3 Coupe.

I don't have a backlight for the ventilation fan speed controller.
And the rear wash dribbles at speed.

That's about it, as REALLY ANNOYING RATTLES don't count.

MG ZS

Air con has not blown cold since I bought it, the air is nicer but just isn't cold so I guess it's out of gas or whatever. I can't say I've missed it though, since changing the cabin filter the air is much cleaner.

How do you know what you've missed if it's not blown cold since day 1 though?

There's a distinct difference in air quality when the blowers just blow through from the outside to the cabin and when they do the same but the AC conditions it in the process and you don't have to have it blowing ice cold so you're freezing your butt off either. I really like having it set to room temp with AC on at all times regardless of weather, the air is just relaxing without any moisture or odour :)

Driver side coin slot, has the worst design on the planet and the clips are both worn, so it falls down and taps me on the knee when I'm driving

Tempted to just velcro it in place

Nearside back passenger door panel is meant to be smooth and unblemished...

At some point I need to find out how much it costs to fix a dinner plate sized dent caused by reversing a Yamaha Grizzly quad bike into it :o

E39 M5

A couple of weeks ago my 6 disk cd changer started skipping over the odd bump. Then it worked fine. Then it started skipping really badly when going around roundabouts and over bumps. Then it stopped working altogether.

Bought an unused Alpine mp3 cd changer but as my car has DSP, I also need to buy an Intravee2 unit and DSP adaptor (£200+). Being abroad with work I haven't had the chance, now i'm back I soo can't be bothered.

Having no tunes is driving me mad, need to do something about it this week.

I suppose with all that could go wrong with my car, I should really be gratefull :D

2000 Galant V6-24:

Got a pretty bad vibration if I go much above 70, think it's just a wheel out of balance or a misshaped tyre but not worrying about it too much just yet as the pair of tyres I believe to be the likely cause are due for replacement. As the MOT is due next month I'm going to ignore it until then. If the MOT doesn't turn up anything disastrously expensive I'll get a pair of tyres and only start worrying about the vibration if that doesn't fix it.

Got a clonk of some kind in the rear suspension, asked my MOT man to try and identify the source for me last year and he didn't find anything, hopefully it'll be bad enough this year that he'll find it, otherwise I'll carry on ignoring it.

Had a slight oil leak since I got it, based on where the oil has got to I suspect it's a cam-seal but can't be bothered taking everything apart to investigate further unless it gets worse. Until then I'll just top it up as required.

Drivers side heated seat hasn't worked since I got it. I probably wouldn't use it even if it worked so won't be doing anything about it.

Got an occasional noise in the passenger side air vent, sounds like a leaf trapped in a fan or something. Need to get around to pulling the pollen filter out and seeing if I can find anything as it's pretty annoying when it does it.

Apart from that it's all good as far as I know!

Because I've been in other cars with AC and don't really see it as a deal breaker :D
