So, you want to keep a pet tarantula?

I figured it was too big when I saw the size of the tarantula. I'll go down the pet shop after my classes today. I think the only choice I've got is one of those green plastic aquazoos or if I can find some kind of really small plastic gold fish bowl.

Glad it's not just Nexus and me that loses them :p :D

Houdini is currently stalking the third mealworm that I put in his jar; it keeps burying itself in the peat  whilst the T hovers about on the surface. Not sure why Houdini hasn't tried to dig it out yet.

I saw him doing some building yesterday; just moving bits about in the jar for no apparent reason & it's pretty amazing, not just how much they can pick up with the pedipalps (was a piece of peat about 1/2 to 2/3 the size of his carapace) but how they carry it too! :)

right. im convinced. im getting my new orchid mantis today, so on my lunch break im going to the local pet shop for a new heat mat, and im gonna see what T's they have in stock.
This thread just keeps getting better and better!!

Only 2 days until the British Tarantula Society show. Just thought I'd show you a couple of T's I have on my wishlist;

Avicularia purpurea (purple tree spider). Absolutely gorgeous avics which are deep purple as adults.
Apurpurea

Chromatapelma cyanopubescens (greenbottle blue). Nuff said, it's gorgeous!

Poecilotheria fasciata It was very hard choosing a favourite pokie, but I think this is my favourite. Any will do though, they're all really attractive T's. Not looking forward to it's temper though.

went to the petshop on my lunch break.
doesnt have any spiderlings tho.
The guy has about 4 chille roses (absolutely gorgeous, first time ive seen one close up), which are about the size of the top rim of a can of coke) for 40 quid.
they look quite lively and happy by all accounts, veryy docile, the guy jut picked it up and it didnt even flinch! Had a few pink toes, but said he could get me anything i wanted.

But then i turned round and saw a tank of leopard geckos, and got that instant feeling of "MUST HAVE!!". so i think a gecko at the end of this month, a T next month :)

 The green and orange one or the purple one?? :p

The green and orange one is a greenbottle blue. They're still extremely rare in the UK and I'm not holding my hopes out for this one being at the show. They're fairly docile and by all accounts would make a decent first tarantula.

The purple one is an Avicularia purpurea. They're not agressive, but they're incredibly fast and will jump. I wouldn't recommend this as a first tarantula purely because they're so nippy, but they're lovely aren't they :) They're fairly rare, but I've seen one place selling them for a ridiculous price. Hopefully I have a chance of getting one of these babies!

Found the little blighter down behind my pc, as to how he got out I have no idea at all. Case lid now covered in tights as thats the only place he could have got out of!

That Avicularia purpurea is really nice, I hadn't seen a picture of it until now.

Glad you found him Sabbz.

I just moved Maya (new Boehmei) from the tank into a smaller 'Living Zoo Small Pals' container. I just about managed to fit the piece of wood that was in the previous tank in, so she can hopefully use that as a hide.

Here is a picture I took after just swapping her over.

Virginia Cheeseman. I believe she has one still left if anyone is still tempted. Though if your off to the BTS show there is more than likely to be some there.

Oh no :( Sorry to hear that mate. Hope you're ok!

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the trains are all running smoothly.

"Severe abdominal pains" Started off at 6am with stomach pains, finally calmed down about 2.30pm - basically a very bad case of IBS, but the worst I've ever had. I feel like someone's kicked my in the guts a few times :(

Lopez, Re: your previous offer of getting me a T at the BTS :D I'd like a Greenbottle Blue and a Avicularia Purpurea (Purple T.. hmmmmmm :p) if you wouldn't mind & if they are available (would also take a Costa Rican Tiger Rump if one of those two isn't available.). Email in sig if you need some money off me before you go :)

Off to GF's for a bit of pampering now :p

Repo, Leon won't read this before he goes to the show because he's had to go into work early today and doesn't finish til 8am tomorrow. If you're serious about wanting a T, email me your phone number along with your preferences and I'll see what I can do tomorrow.
