Maybe it likes being the colour it already is ;)

How do you find the temperment of yours? I'd like to try and handle mine but it seems pretty quick, and always runs away at the slightest touch of a paint brush.

My T's temprement seems to sometimes be okay (doesn't react much to a paintbrush) and sometimes a bit skittish.

It's give me an defensive posture twice not long after I got it. Since then nothing.

It's currently sitting in it's burrow.

Any ideas of what sex it is from the pictures I poseted earlier?

i used to order from them, they gave me quite a quick service, but i found a local place that sells for the same price so i use them now. I found that global live food, usually charge you for the crickets quite late btw and under the name of aquarius design

Count yourselves lucky you don't live in Italy :)

The Senate Monday rushed through a decree banning scorpions, tarantulas and various other venomous eight-legged creatures from being brought onto Italian soil.

^^ That guy is a joke of a leader.

"spiders that are dangerous to man."

Tarantulas aren't dangerous to man, and there are only a few spiders and scorpions that are.

On a happier note, my little Rosea sling finally moulted today after what seemed like forever. Hasn't grown too much by the looks of things, but they are supposed to be slow growers.

I order ALL my mantid's live food from these guys & i'm very happy with the service & quality of food they deliver.

Can't remember exactly how many days it takes for the goods to turn up, think about 2 or 3 days usually.

Oh Christ, this is gonna cause ructions! There are a number of high-profile breeders in Italy, can't see them being too chuffed at this law.

Long time no see people, i have returned :D and lots has gone on! Basically it was arranged that my B.Smithi would arrive from germany AFTER i moved out! They turned up before hand which was a bit of a pain but i had everything ready anyway.

What was an even bigger pain was the fact that instead of one B.Smithi, there were a total of three spiders!!! There had been a mix up with payment so i ended up with the following spiderlings for 7euros!!

B.smithi
B.angustum
B.albopilosum

After they'd settled down at home, they ended up having to be moved into my flat in the centre of liverpool! So as you can imagine its been a busy month or two!

Unfortunetly i don't know which spider is which  at the moment due to the lids on the cases getting hugly mixed up when i was unpacking the little ones. As far as i can guess the B.angustum is the biggest of the lot at the moment, he's about 1.2-2.0cm in legspan and at the rate he's growing, it'd actually moulted in transit so it was a mad eater, and it moulted again about a week ago!

The other two have both moulted once each as well, and i have a feeling they'll both be having another soon. They are both around 1cm in legspan at the moment.

I'm going to have to unpack the digi-camera and get some pictures taken. I haven't got an internet connection at the moment which is a huge pain as you can imagine so i'm having to come into uni everyday to check mail etc :(

Anyway, i will have some pictures up as soon as i can :)

Don't worry about which is which, they all have similar care requirements, and the B albopilosum will start to look dark brown soon which will set it apart form the other two. :)

My Poecilitheria regalis moulted today. I was quite surprised because he only moulted a few weeks ago. No he is a pretty big spider, every time he moults he seems to double in size. You can really see the great yellow markings on his underside now and also the cream band on his abdomen.

Sorry about the lack of pictures, but he is currently behind a load of webbing and is difficult to see. When I get back from work I will try to get somes pics taken to show you :)

My Tigerrump is mouting as we speak :D

Pity I gave my borrowed digicam back on Tuesday  lol

EDIT: OMG that was fast;

At 5:30 it was feeding time at the zoo and I put a crick in.
About 15 mins later I noticed the T was on it's back so I took the crick out.
6:05pm now & the moult is done

2 moults in a week! My little smithi just finished, still no colour though :(

I moved my slings to some proper viles yesterday instead of the cricket contrainers they were in. I think they much prefer it already.

Loads of updates to make - I've had 3 moults I think this week and a fourth is going on as we speak! Will update with pics later tonight :)

Ok, so here is a picture of my Poecilitheria regalis, Jerry. I missed him moulting so his skin was pretty dried up and too hard to unfold to sex or use for a size comparison. :(

Here he is next to a 10p for scale:

I have to say, I reckon that these are pretty fast growers. None of my others spiders have moulted more than once while in my possessio, this is Jerry's third moult in about 3 months :)

I've had a few moults over the past few weeks so I thought I'd better do an update with some pics of my freshly moulted babies.

First up is Zico who moulted a few weeks ago.. and upright!! erk. He's completely lost all his baby colourings now and is definately looking like a sub-adult A. geroldi. He's beautiful with his turquoise legs and inky green abdomen. He's also growth a fair amount since I got him. He's about 2.5" diagonally now. Oh and I think he's a boy too... gutted.

Tachira, my greenbottle blue was the next to moult and man is he gorgeous. Very nervous, but... wow...

José then decided to moult, and just like Leon's Miguel he grew absolutely tonnes. The hairs covering his body are much redder than Miguel's though. It's interesting to see how tarantulas of the same species can vary so much in colour.

Next up is Louis, my little versicolor. He's starting to show his adult colours now and has once more changed colour from bright blue back to a turquoisey green. He's extremely jumpy all of a sudden, but still let me handle him fine.

And finally, I returned home from Wales to find Jez moulted. She's looking gorgeous and I'm still glad she was my first T. Really like B.emilias.
