Yeah. The E6700 outperforms the X2 4400+ at stock. Get a cheaper C2D with a decent multiplier and you're laughing.
 
Yeah exactly, got to about 2.6 I believe, and didn't really do anything, just raised temps.

I only asked about the E6700 as I have one that I don't use in my cuboard...I could get a cheap board from somewhere and do it like that, then perhaps try clocking that a bit...?
 
But then in your case, you could also upgrade to Core 2 Quite easily, and cheaply.

Unless you were on AM2 obviously then it would be a different story :)
 
I am gonna stick it out a while longer, no point in changing something I'm happy with and with hardware changing so fast and prices dropping soooooo rapid i think I will praise myself in a year or so for hanging out for the octo cores :d
 
a good point, im guessing my current will take me through to next year by which a q6600 would be about £50, the thing is im happy with my rig so wont upgrade until all games become like crysis lol
