If you already have a windows install then yes put it in a slave drive and update the firmware using the ocz toolbox firmware updater befor you do a clean windows install.

Placed the drive into port 1 instead of port 4, seems to be twice as quick and no stuttering yet! Think the ports are Intel controllers, rather than Marvell if my memory serves me!

Yer marvell are slower ports always best to use intel ports, Glad you sorted it.

Sorry for the late response to your question but you don't really need to upgrade unless it's very old but it's worth checking what fw version it shipped with.

Mine came with 1.35 and I bumped it to 1.37 ... no big deal... takes seconds especially if you're using the linux tools boot cd
