(SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!)**ANOTHER CRAZY SSD DEAL IS HERE: OCZ VERTEX 2E 60GB ONLY £29.99!!**

would there be any point in buying two of these and raiding them for boot (windows+office+apps) drive?

or is the speed increase negligible in raid because they are already so fast?

EDIT: just noticed there are other 120gb sata 3 ssds going for about £70 so it wouldn't be such a good idea i think.

Depends what your doing with them!

As an OS drive, RAID does not give huge advantages, as the biggest performance boost comes from 0.1ms access time, which RAID does not improve.

If however your moving around a lot of large files, or editing large photographs or anything which involves large read/writes, then yes RAID improves performance.

I do wonder at what some people expect from these deals. OcUK are in the business of making a profit at the end of the day.

Great opportunity spotted with the old stock just sitting there and a great coup to get it at a price that makes sense for so many. 60GB might not be for everyone but I'm sure there are going to be a few hundred people out there very soon enjoying the benefits of SSD speed at long last at a price that wouldn't have seemed possible a few months ago.

Its the old lesson - you cant please everybody. Some people are just more vociferous than others :)

Can anyone confirm if one of these is ok for use in an Aspire Revo?

The existing mechanical HDD sometimes makes dubious noises, and this might make a nice replacement.

really tempted, was saving for a mechanical keyboard, have a 60gb Crucial as my boot, my steam folder is currently 40.2gb, would I see any benefit from putting my steam folder on this drive?:)

Well, I've caved in (again) and bought it. So that's the 120 and the 60GB now. By the way, if you guys then decide to do an epic on the Agility 3 240 drive after this, I will not be happy :p cos that's the one I've been waiting to go down in price again. Ah well, you can't have everything right? :D

Now my next problem is, which machine is going to get which drive? Hmmm, 120GB in the main PC and the 60GB in the gaming machine? Decisions, decisions!

For the price of a game you can't go wrong to be honest.
