(SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!)**ANOTHER CRAZY SSD DEAL IS HERE: OCZ VERTEX 2E 60GB ONLY £29.99!!**

The RAID benchmarks from a pair in RAID 0:-

I've placed these results next to single drive results for easy comparison. The only difference is the single drive had zero data on it. In RAID 0 the drives had Win7 Pro loaded onto them. :)

Ordered.

£30 to convert my occasionally used Sempron + XP based laptop from a slightly frustrating machine into something that I don't have to power up a couple of days in advance.

Sweet.

No TRIM ? I doubt I'll notice.

Anyone who states that 60GB is not big enough for a boot drive are talking total rubbish. I have Win7, all my drivers, plus my browser on mine and I still have over 25GB spare. At what point are updates/drivers ever going to go past 25GB? Never.

Stonking deal even for a little games drive. Just move games on and off it as you please.

To see maximal benefit you want enough room to install *all* your productivity apps and a game or two.

That's why I personally consider 128gb to be the smallest practical size. YMMV.

That's what warranties (and backups) are for.

Admittedly, it's a right PITA to RMA your OS/boot drive (particularly on your main PC/laptop), but no SSD has a 0% fail rate. If it's that important, put 2+ enterprise SSDs in RAID to minimise (but not eliminate) potential failures, for the small price of 10-20x this offer's £/GB.

With the latest firmware, there shouldn't be any issues with a Sata2 SSD. If there are you've got 14 days DSR with OcUK and 3 years warranty too. What do you expect for £30?

Good points thanks!

It says it supports RAID, does that mean it supports TRIM with RAID? Or does the RAID controller have to support SSDs and TRIM?

It does have TRIM support, at least that's what the spec says.

I might be mistaken, but XP doesn't support TRIM, or does it ?

I also believe that certain SATA controllers don't support TRIM, and with a 5 year old laptop (or is it 6 ?) with an AMD chipset, I doubt that TRIM will be on the menu.

I've decided I'm going to cancel my order as I am going to get another 120GB of the same model when they go up to £50. I assume, Gibbo that the 120GB will still be sold by yourselves? Or are they totally sold out from the pre-orders? I have created a post in the Customer Service thread.

Thanks.

Knew I should have gotten two of the 120GB at the time. But hindsight and all that. And after carefully assessing both of my machines, I can now say that 120GB would be sufficient for them both.

The 120GB sold out but a few people cancelled and went with the 60GB, but due to so few the price is £59.99, in we get a few more spare we will do a TODAY ONLY at £49.99 so well keep checking the daily deals everyday at 9am :)

Awesome stuff. I shall indeed keep an eye out. £50 is better than £60 lol. :p :D Thanks dude.

I'd not swap a 120GB for a 60GB for a £15 saving, even if the 60GB was SATA III.
Not even for my lappy.
Looking forward to my 2*120GB 2e drives landing. :D
