That will not happen anytime soon. By the time 500GB SSD's cost £75 (current cost for 2TB), 8TB Hdd's will cost even less, and current 2TB hdd's will be ~£30.when a 500Gb ssd costs the same as a 2Tb standard hdd then i'll buy one,
*echo's the game comments and cost*

I dont think I saw the wow I was expecting with mine. Switched from a Velociraptor to a Vertex2 60GB. Yes programs load a bit faster and windows loads a little bit quicker - but it still takes 50 seconds to boot.
My bios is kinda crap at posting, takes way too long.
50 seconds to boot?
My boot time more than halved, I boot in about 20 seconds

I currently have two 500GB Samsung F3's in RAID-0 on my i5 system.
Will I really see a difference in performance if I upgrade to SSD?
Mine takes 17 seconds may be 30 seconds with the bios.
Best upgrade ever. Those who don't do it don't know what they are missing![]()
I went from a Raid 0 Setup like yours with two samsung drives to a single OCZ 120GB and the difference was night and day, there's no comparison. I use the old drives for additional storage as you would expect.

Having the live files on the SSD along with Photoshop and Lightroom should be awesome!

I mainly use my PC for photo editing. Having the live files on the SSD along with Photoshop and Lightroom should be awesome!
Unfortunately my first SSD experience has not been as amazing as i was expecting, but it has not been a bad experience.
I bought a Vertex 2e 60gb but due to running an old chip-set (Nforce 4) i do not see the speeds most of you do but it has still been an upgrade to my 5year old 160gb drive.
