Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

Looks like maxed contrast in photoshop

Nope how it looks in flesh:

https://www.bramley.com/carsales/details/Ferrari/458-Italia/3618.htm

I took some photos on Saturday, I shall post those up later of corsa and Fuoco side by side.

Beautiful car but in regards to the bonnet it seems the drivers side is slightly lifted than the passengers side.

I think its latch, black car was same as it was not latched correctly, so assuming and hoping this is same, I've requested a photo of the bonnet with it closed correct along front leading edge to be sure it is level otherwise be asking why some fat person sat on it as that is how it looks at moment.

The passenger side of bonnet looks normal, it’s the drivers side that seems out of alignment.

Surprised they haven’t noticed/sorted before sending a video out with a close up.

Car has not had the 190 check yet, Ferrari got it yesterday, trust me I've been so quick at jumping on this car, hence its not been inspected by Ferrari yet, just taken off customer who sold it / part-ex with them, I in short demanded the video as the photos were terrible that they uploaded today. From what I gather owner had a private plate and demanded it was not shown in photos, so my guess is they ripped it off, thrown it in bonnet and not closed it properly, hence all the sticky pads still on front.

If I go through with deal it will have 190 point check carried out, major service and then a full valet which I shall try to have upgraded to a full detail and paint correction.

I have acted quick as another black one I was gonna look at unfortunately sold this morning, I am still looking at yellow one just in case its incredible, but over red yellow is not worth 20k more to me personally, yes in re-sale potentially, but not for me. Car has to be spot on for me!

Rosso Corsa - Flat bright solid red, very nice

Rosso Fuoco - Triple layer metallic pearl red, 19k option painted externally, Speciale and Pista colour

The shade is easy to see difference even shows up on camera but in the flesh the option colour has way more depth and also does some really cool stuff with how lighting bounces of it plus come re-sale its an easier colour to move on as generally quite sought after.

Pictures taken same day, same showroom, same camera, zero editing!

**** me that paint is nice, having seen a triple layered Ferrari standing next to a standard paint one it looks miles better. Does that mean the SVR has been part exchanged?

Yes as long as I am happy with car but also option of keeping SVR until end of month to see if it fetches more privately.

I so wanted you to get the Lambo @Gibbo, but that is absolutely beautiful and I love it. That colour as well

Sorry if I've missed it, but do they give any kind of warranty or will you have to buy a third party one?

2yr warranty underwritten by Ferrari.
Car shall have a major service also he has confirmed bonnet not patched correct.

He is just sorting me service history and sending some other stuff over and then gonna let me know when it’s ready for test drive as it’s got to be checked over by Ferrari first to make sure all is well as they only got car this week.

Once that’s done and major service I’ll go and test drive.

Just test driving a 2012 now! :)

Hi there

So I drove a 2012 Black Nero just, with full leather black nero with yellow contrast and every carbon extra. This was a post 2012 car so had all the updates and I could feel every single one:

Brakes: 2012 more assisted, more confidence inspiring, 2010 car much longer pedal, takes time to re-adjust, very much like a GT3! Post 2012 wins here!
Engine noise: 2012 one was actually civilised and quiet, it really made the car well feel more like a normal car, this was not enjoyed, car felt not as urgent at upper RPM, it just felt smooth, guess they maybe tweaked power curves. Pre 2012 wins here!
Gearbox: Much smoother, maybe placebo but maybe a tad quicker and it was certainly holding positive energy in the post 2012 car, even upshifting whilst pootling along in race mode the car was inertia shifting, both good and bad. In race mode it however was not as harsh when you really gave it some and felt more artificial. I'd rate them even here, but again the pre 2012 software makes the car more an event, because in race mode with lights on dash it felt harsher and just more race car.
Suspension: Post 2012 car makes a bigger difference on bumpy road button, much softer, in short like driving a Mondeo soft, just soaked it all up, it goes from firm to soft, whereas pre 2012 car goes from firm to a touch less firmer. For whatever reason either mag ride updates or the tyres on car (super sports) the car felt a bit nervous to me, I had a lot more confidence in the pre 2012 car, but maybe that is MPSS vs PS4S, the pre 2012 car was on near new PS4S, whereas this post 2012 was on 4-5mm super sports, but saying that my M3 is on 4-5yr old super sports they give huge confidence.

In short 2010/11 car was more of an event to drive and still more than comfy enough in auto/bumpy road mode. The 2012 car felt modernised and if anything less Ferrari, less bespoke, it was still awesome but dare I say this it felt more like Huracan in drive train, too accomplished, too artificial and the handling was a tad nervous.

In short I prefer 2010/11 car for sure.

But seeing another black car really throws a spanner in the works, I seriously cannot get over how bloody amazing they look in black, they are simply things of beauty. All being well I am catching train to Scotland Monday to inspect the red one and if all goes well finalise the deal, but for sure the older model I prefer, it feels more mechanical in its nature and more an event.

Driving a 2014 yellow tomorrow so shall be interesting to see how it compares to 2012 but as far as I know all the updates came in 2012 that impacted how the cars drive, only other update was speed display on both screen in 2011.

This car had nearly all carbon upgrades, rev counter, dash inserts, wheel, paddles, centre tunnel and yellow seatbelts.

If anything the only downside is all leather seats, whereas first black car had the alcantara inserts and more yellow detailing which was nicer, but this one has yellow seat belts, cool feature.

The 2012 is nice because newer, though this did have higher CCM wear, 12% front, 14% rear at the service done around ten miles ago. Car was pretty pristine, only downside I noticed was something was rattling badly from behind dash area which would drive me crazy and no Ferrari warranty. He offered 138k and 63k for mine, I think he'd go lower or at least get Ferrari warranty included at 138k price, but in all fairness I prefer the older black car, nicer wheels, nicer seats, yes less carbon but 2010 more an event to drive, still an epic car!

But black why am I finding black so appealing in Ferrari's, don't do much for me on other cars, but black F430's and F458's I love them, maybe its the cars curvy shape or all the gold flake in the paint.

So much hate for black, seeing yellow tomorrow, I want to want the red as well priced car but something is not right:

Bonnet is 100% twisted or out of alignment.

The one I drove today, has height adjusters so it could be those, remember I had same issue on my SVR, but I can't believe the last six owners did not notice this.....

I've also got service history, should I be concerned?

2010 car:
2011 service, missing, but supposedly was done
2012, all complete, Ferrari
2013, all complete, Ferrari
2014, all complete, Ferrari
2015, all complete, Ferrari
2016, all complete, Ferrari
2017, was not done, missed
2018/19, due not but shall be upgraded to a major due to last one missed.

They have informed me the car was also an ex-demo car, so a loaner by first owners (Ferrari), so why on earth they specify the black on black interior I don't know but still I am little not so sure if an ex-demo car is good or bad idea, I am not worried about it been driven hard cold so much because that would have happened to them all at some point, sales guys ragging them, test drives, but as this was an official demo car, no doubt loaned to quite a few is maybe reason to tread carefully?

Its a choice between these two cars:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classi...BbqcN01f3rIjn1uHnfQOh-vmb59wQSHwWAu4ZbwYA-sOo

Both cars 2010 so both should have that more of an event to drive feel. :)
Right now I seriously can't tell you if I prefer red or black, I kind of love them both!
Prefer wheels on black one.
Prefer interior on black one.
Black is a year younger and 3000 less miles.
Red one has leather headliner which is nice, also parking sensors and folding mirrors.

Black trade in is 60k, agreed on paddles retrofit, brand new tyres, service etc at 135k, also agreed on 5.9% with Ferrari finance, a little more but keeps all in house.
Red trade in is 53.5k, agreed on lower centre carbon retrofit, tyres are still under discussion, painting calipers yellow still under discussion others £150 per calipers, major service included. Also 135k, but unknown on the other bits been included. They want 9.4% APR.

The black car needs nothing, they are pretty much at my target price, trade in and APR.
The red car for me needs yellow calipers, michelin tyres and I'd pay the 139k if they match the trade in offer unless my car sells privately above 60k would solve that.

The two cars are so evenly matched, the red is absolutely more a poser for photographs, has the whole I drive a red Ferrari attitude, check me out, the black is more understated but in the flesh just has a memorising beauty about it, can't really explain it.

Need to drive the yellow and red, but out of the two black ones the older one felt so much quicker and the sales guy was a unit of a bloke, so we had a lot more weight in the car and it simply felt way more of an event and more savage and better planted than the newer black car I drove today, the only complaint I had over older black one it smelt when driven hard but if as sales guy says its sat for three months, then I guess be why. The one I drove today had no smell, it just rattled a lot in the dash and of course no Ferrari warranty.

Black one nothing wrong, my local dealer, big plus!

Red one, I worrying over, but I kind of want to like it because THAT COLOUR!

I will let them train to explain it, but think I will ask for my deposit back!

Not tempted by a 488?

Not at all I am afraid. Noise aint for me and again not such an event and way too easy.

Driving these cars:

Huracan: Insanely fast, you breath on the throttle and your at 130mph and feel like your doing 50mph. But lack of engagement, great theatre with noise and the brutal kicks in corsa mode and insane looks, but just needs you to drive double speed limit to enjoy.
Pre 2012 458: Fast, not Huracan fast, but feels rawer, everything feels more mechanical and more you, plus its fun even at 50mph on a back road your happy to drive it at 6/10's, the Huracan you want to drive at 9/10 or beyond 10/10 all time to enjoy it, at which point jail time is coming.
570S: Not driven, I suspect its nothing short of incredible, lightest car (1440kg) and old school twin turbo nature, very boost like 6-8k rpm, so suspect handling is best and maybe feel and enjoyment, but lacking in noise and the depreciation outright scares me and running cost seem a bit unreasonable, Ferrari is cheaper!

Plus speaking with owners of 488's who had 458's, they miss their 458's, says it all really! 488 is a masterpiece but the real enjoyment is how the car makes you feel to drive it at legal speeds, not what it can do on a track.

Why I took SVR over an R8 or a Porsche 911 Turbo, the latter two make going fast very easy, at legal speeds they are quite inert and boring, the SVR is an absolute hoot and giggle machine that feels a lot more edge to it at lower speeds, wants to play more, but when pushed is actually really practically as good as the competing cars.

Its easy to chase lap times, paper figures, being guilty myself of that, yet some of the time the real and most important factor is how it makes you feel to drive just at 30 or 60mph and how engaging it feels.

Black for me ;)

Meets your criteria on everything.

I understand the need for a RED Ferrari, but if the seller has met your criteria and finance package. That is where I would go.

Good luck with what you choose. Epic cars.

Not a need for a red one, as I am not that fond of the Rosso Corsa, the colour is just bright and flat, nice but I'd not want one.

My heart was set on yellow or a deeper red, maybe even a silver/grey.

I only test drove the black one, to get my foot in the door to see how they drove, I never expected it to blow me away in person, don't know if its shape of the car or all the gold fleck in the paint, but just something about it and also maybe I don't want to be that person in a red Ferrari, I don't mind some attention and yes I know even a black Ferrari is going to get attention, but a red one will get all the attention, yellow too but yellow is cool. Now having seen black in the flesh its like now a favourite with yellow.

Just seems Ferrari don't suit colours well, either red, yellow, black, white, maybe silvers pretty much.

The Lambo any colour works, purple, orange, green, though black for me does not work on a Huracan, different cars work with different colours. On the F-Type I only wanted blue or orange, I did not like black at all.

Insurance have quoted me happy, change from the SVR to the 458 and increasing value to £140,000, everything else same, an additional £320 on the policy so working it out looks to be around £1200 per year, that is with Admiral multi-car. :)

That yellow is stunning.

Yes it’s the optional triple layer yellow not sure it’s as expensive an option as the Rosso Fuoco triple layer but it did look incredible and the interior had the full carbon race package too and being a 2014 car the next three services are free.

One major issue with the car and only issue the ceramics are heavily worn. Car has done a few track days and seems the owner made same mistake as I did with ceramics which was be too gentle with them and thus over heating and delaminating them.

There is no real perfect car it seems, the first black car was exceptional but lacking in spec and made a funny smell but out that down to never been driven.

I’m keen on yellow will have to try and recover the ceramics before it’s too late with some repairing pads or a new set of ceramics.

Ferrari were not hearing my complaints stating 20% worn on front and 50% on rear is below their 80% for replacement. All they noted was some rough surface but in fairness I did get enough money off the price to cover a new full set of surface transforms ceramics all round.

Yellow does look incredible.

Would you regret not getting the rawer earlier car?

Yes and no.

I’m thinking of owning this car and because it’s a 2014 means Ferrari will put warranty on this car until 2026, it’s one of the newest available and it’s really perfect spec too and in person the yellow is something else being a pearl/metallic yellow.

The 2010 car was still louder and had the pops and burbles which I liked. This 2014 car seems louder than the 2012 was but again no pops or burbles.

This car had no nervous handling but was on near new PZero tyres that had a 2017 date all round so changed last year and it had new pads last year.

The gear is not perfect on old or newer.
Older one is always smooth but brutal in race mode with hard mechanical thumps, and hence why earlier cars had a few more DCT issues.

Newer car added inertia shift in race mode so it always artificially thumps even when your not giving it much and when you are giving it full beans the shift has a little thus not as brutal as earlier car.

I think from a resale perspective in 2-4 years it’s the better car and the colour is drop dead gorgeous and with black roof it just works.

Jury is still out on the black wheels in the flesh and because the spikes are thin and the brakes so big and yellow you can see wheel design and it of course keys in with the roof, so whereas a dark grey would be nicer for the wheel it kind of moves away from the cars theme of yellow and gloss black.

It’s in lightest spec having buckets, forged wheels and racing carbon pack so around 1500kg with fuel.

If I get this I can make it louder by bypassing the valves to always be open or fit a nice light titanium exhaust system and along with my lipo batty would pull another 40-50kg out the car and something Ferrari confirmed will work and is ok with warranty. It’s rapid as it is and I’ve not driven one solo yet so no sales guy and my light battery is another 100kg out and of course the dealerships only fill with unleaded and I’m sure a Ferrari would prefer vpower99 :)

Well test drive it 'softly' and wear them down before buying ;)

Take a while it had pads in April 2018 and the shots of donnington I found of the car were 15/16 and these current pads I’d guess at 7-9mm left and new would be 10-12mm so though wearing faster than normal due to rough surface they still lasting quite long.

If I do the deal I’ll grab a set of sintered pads all round which are proven for repairing rough ceramics and bringing disc and pad wear back to normal levels.

Than if all else fails 6k on a set of ceramics from surface transforms, same weight and quality as originals just without the Ferrari tax, the amount they charge for ceramic disc is just crazy especially now as they are now standard figment on so many cars and all pretty much made by Brembo, shocking really but profit margins on car parts are in another realm, particular the higher end market.

Edinburgh emailed me the red car he missed three services.

Am sure could have been good for negotiation but come resale it would be a nightmare to sell on so got refunded.

I can’t believe a car like a Ferrari had such neglect or maybe issue with six owners they lose tract or get told a car was serviced when was not.

The yellow had 2 owners the second an enthusiast who done some Ferrari track days founds pictures on google so explains the brake wear, so I’ve placed a deposit. Car has been serviced every year without fail and on the drive out it felt much quicker than the newer black one I drove. Plus the next three services are free of charged so that £3500 saves and it’s got a new set of tyres, shame PZero though but they’ll be fine for Summer and new pads last year.

Also all being well sold the SVR privately as well so get more money than trade in offer and with a good chunk of money off for worn brakes if all goes well should be in a yellow Ferrari next month.

I wonder if the red one has been a hire car at some point?

Enjoy the yellow one!

No idea was a Ferrari demoncar and had six owners and three missed services. I’ll admit I bet it’s still a nice car just because the colour but I’d want to do quite a bit of work to it or had it done as part of deal. Change silver callipers to yellow, retro fit some carbon parts etc.

End of day I’ve paid just over 10k more but got a younger car with less miles, less owners and in a much higher specification options wise. Plus also a very special colour and Ferrari’s true colour, yellow.
