Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

Got the RS30 lithium ion battery installed this weekend, bit fiddly getting it to work with factory bracket to make sure it can't move as its a touch taller, but some use of washers and its in and not going anywhere. Stock battery was 26kg, this is 4.5kg plus additional savings to removing tyre gel kit its closer to 25kg and another 21kg coming out this week in unsprung mass with new 2PC brakes.

Also removed the front plate holder, to keep it legal got a stick on plate like M3:

Far happier with the cleaner look of the front-end now.
Nice weather weekend, finally got to drive the car on clean dry roads and wow, what a machine it is, easily fastest car I've owned it is so damn capable yet so much fun too. :)

Get a proper disk lock rather than those crappy arms.

I know disk lock is better, but thought the one I have was OK, its Thatcham approved and came second behind same manufacturer of disk lock in online reviews. Its just a basic deterrent really to put of a joyrider, if a thief really wants the car they will probably just break into the house and look for the keys for both car and disk lock.

I just try to deter them, hence the stop lock, locked gates, cctv etc.

Car is getting loads attention at Santa Pod, supposedly first SVR they have seen and running consistent 11.4@124mph

Mine and Kindai’s so evenly matched. :)

My last run of the day, which I decided to try wet mode to see if diff locked at 50/50 would make it even quicker, low and behold and 11.3s run:

Absolutely over the moon with the performance of this car, the guys who work at Santa Pod said an F-Type is a rare site, but they have never seen an SVR before, they also think it may be the first SVR down the quarter mile.
Car was getting lots of positive attention from kids, adults, bikers and the staff, really pulled in the crowds with a lot of wow comments and what an insanely beautiful car.
One of the staff said a new Aventador was running last week and it did consistent 11.2's with launch control as such they found my car the more impressive due to no launch control and well costing vastly less.

Here is a photo of all runs, I did manage to do a lot of runs with different gearbox settings, dynamic settings and trying short shifting as well:

PodResults.jpg

Run 1: Dynamic, but suspension soft, gearbox in normal and letting it change up at limiter. Launch from line with half throttle then full!
Run2: Dynamic, but suspension soft, gearbox in normal and letting it shift first gear, then me afterwards. Launch from line with half throttle then full!
Run3: Dynamic, but suspension soft, gearbox in dynamic and in full auto S mode and just matting the gas pedal hard.
Run4: Jumped the lights, lifted but then decided to get back in it and run.
Run5: Full dynamic mode, even suspension, gearbox in S and just mashing the gas pedal. (Notice how the suspension set to hard has marginal negative impact on 60FT and thus impacting ET.
Run6: Dynamic, but suspension soft, gearbox in S full manual mode and me changing myself and short shifting 4th around 5000rpm to use 5th instead of revving 4th out, result slower and lower terminal.
Run7: Wet Mode, Gearbox in sport and full manual mode, kicking throttle hard but not quite full then flat. Wet mode gave a substantial reduction in 60FT and thus my quickest time of the day at 11.3s

Next week, wet mode it is and perfect the throttle from the line, hopefully 2PC brake rotors on in time for next week, be interesting to see if they have any impact, doubtful but be good to see, would like to crack a 11.2s out the car as that pretty much guarantees a 10s car with tune and pulley upgrade.

Great work Jaguar you made such a quick car! :)

We were actually discussing this today! Would be awesome to get you there so we can compare how all 3 of us line up. Theres literally hundredths (not even tenths, frikkin hundredths) between Gibbo and myself, so you gotta bring the 720!

I think a 720S is one of the fastest 1/4 mile production cars in existence, 10.4s I think, of course no idea how easy it is to replicate those runs, as Kindai has found out Nissan's claims are very hard to hit, but they do use LC which are course most owners refuse to use due to the stress put on the car.

I am thoroughly tempted to remove the passenger seat for next weekend as with the 2PC brakes probably not be far off being around 100kg equivalent lighter than what it was today, should give me an 11.2s run. I might pump front tyres to 50psi as well haha, a little less drag from fronts might help too. :D

Hi there

So today the sample set and worlds first 2PC full floating iron rotors manufactured by Wortec for Jaguar F-Type V8 were test fitted to my car today, installation went smoothly at Topcat Racing as to be expected as Wortec purchased Jaguar original disc to ensure all dimensions, relevant holes, chamfers, PCD, etc. were all spot on.

Some seriously nice race stuff at Topcats, Marcos LS7 and LS9 converstions, TVR LS7 conversions, more TVR's and lots of Caterhams and other race cars, shall post some pictures up in coming days, been a long day, so pretty knackered.

As they are the sample set, these are not my chosen design as these are the suncut thermal slotted disc which offer maximum weight savings of just over 21kg for the set which matches ceramic weight savings, so very impressive on that front.

As Topcats is on an ex military base, that means lots of private land, so once fitted we were able to proceed to immediate bedding in and testing procedure which was around ten runs to 100mph and braking at 60-70% capacity down to 20mph turning the disc shiny/blue.

We then built speeds upto 120-130mph and did a few braking runs at 70, 80, 90 and then 100% pedal travel down to 10mph until the brakes were smoking. Once we reached this we did a none braking run and then went for an all out 130 and hard braking run to judge braking ability. All I can say is we now have a lot more braking power, better pedal feel and better pedal modulation, so yes the car stops better and inspires more confidence in doing so, something I am very happy about.

So back to the unit, old stuff in the car, so yep nearly 50kg of stock brake disc in the boot and the long gentle drive to my mates detailing unit for a good wash and top up of sealant.

Performance and handling shall have to wait, I was not going to attempt hard cornering with 50kg in the boot, otherwise there may have been a new concept of floating rotors. ;)
What I can comment on is ride quality, even with the boot load, its really noticeable in a positive way, almost like dialling in more rebound but with none of the negatives, the suspension recovers faster over bumps and holes in the road resulting in a better ride and of course also means better contact patch.

Oh and I must admit they do look absolutely awesome too. :D

I originally went with plain edge and just drilled design because my worry was the suncut would make them look smaller but in reality they look much bigger than the stock items simply because they no longer have the black inner circle, or as many call the stock units "dustbin lids" and as such I am considering keeping this set as I do like the design, it looks cool, saves weight and really improves cooling ability. Wortec engineer Paul said to touch the rotors when we pulled up, I thought he was joking, until he put his hand on them for a couple of seconds and said yes they are hot but are not excessively hot which is credit to the suncut, thermal grooves and internal vane design essentially improves cooling ability hugely, though my intention is not track work they are of course very much suited to both road and track work. Gone with EBC Yellows for pads, simply as choice is limited but they are an OK all rounder and from my drive home are better than stock pads in every way, so the combination woks superbly well. Also worth noting is the EBC pads match the original pads identical, also come with backing plates and I can report they are totally silent/squeak free so far. The only additional noise is under harder braking and its not really additional noise just different sound due to the grooved design and only noticeable when braking hard, so far no embarrassing choo choo like train stopping at low speeds which is good news.

The weakness the car I felt had, is now gone, the brakes now have more power, more fade resistant and inspire a lot more confidence.

Big thank you to Wortec, Topcats Racing for making this happen, the service was second to none, even more impressive no money has passed hands yet as Wortec want me to put around 500-1000 miles on the disc, then if I am happy they will buy me a new set of EBC yellows and fit my chosen design rotors with new pads at their cost or I can keep these ones. Fantastic service and so far a great quality product! :)

The car should now be around 1650kg so heading in the right direction and with 600HP on tap, she absolutely flies, now lets see if all this weight reduction helps shed a tenth or two off the quarter mile, I doubt it will, particular as track temperatures this weekend shall be another 10c hotter, but one can be hopeful of an 11.2s run. :D

Topcats are down on the old military base near Aylesbury aren't they? Wish I'd known you were going, I'd have dropped by as I wasn't far from there today and I have an old customer almost next door to Topcats.

Yep thats them, some incredible kit in their unit too. He has a TVR T350C for sale with an LS7 conversion, about 600HP and 1100kg, incredible bit of kit and at £38,000 a lot of car for the money and once its gripping pretty much nothing will keep up with it, took loads of photos so shall post them up over coming days. :)

How come topcat is on the telly trying to get a bank loan when he has an outfit like this set up??

He has put everything into that business, he still lives in a terrace house, he is still racing his 22yr old Marcos LS7 car and still beating some of the GT3 boys in their much more modern kit.
So he has put all his money into his business and trying to succeed and you can't blame him for trying, he seems to be doing quite well too.

He also has a Caterham for sale too, but race none road legal one so did not interest me. Still a good outfit, full of very knowledgeable people and very specialist mainly dealing in race cars and race weekend preparation from what I could gather from the Ginettas, Marco and TVR's been setup for racing this weekend at Donnington.

Ive decided that skirt needs to be carbon or carbon wrapped. :D

image.jpg

I think that could work, as the car is covered in genuine carbon, they too would also need to be genuine and same weave, which could be very hard to source, a wrap won't suffice and not sure if a dip would work. Do Jaguar sell Carbon skirts? :D

Brakes are performing well, better stopping power, car seems lighter on its feet handling and turn in wise too which is nice. :)

Unfortunately, I have a real thing about rear wings, even when they have genuine benefit when you're doing 150.
If your car didn't have that, would probably be the best looking production car currently on sale.

Jaguar allow you to delete it, was an option. However for me I'd take spoiler every time, its what makes the SVR and not having it seriously harms re-sale value too. :)

No it's Chinese, or is it Indian owned now?

It built in UK and by people living in the UK, that makes it very much British.
The money (investment) comes from Tata who are Indian, but the car is made on this island by British workers, that to me makes it very much British.

Having a factory in China does not make them Chinese, OcUK has factories in China, it does not make us Chinese. Is it a bad thing, not at all in fact its probably a good thing.

Also I believe the AJ133 in the V8 F-Types is made from Ford & Jaguar parts bin, built here in the UK.

Its very much a British car, designed and engineered by people in the UK, where the parts come from is pretty irrelevant.
Jaguar Cars. Jaguar Cars is a brand of cars made byJaguar Land Rover. This is a British car builder, owned by the Indian builder Tata Motors since the beginning of 2008. It was established in 1922 by William Lyons.
