 ...and what might you drive?

0-60 of 6.1s and a top speed 155mph (154.7), both have been proven via magazines/GPS/video, whatever you need.

Its only 200bhp isnt it? 6.1 to 60 seems too quick, although of course it'll do it in 2nd gear which helps.

Did anyone else think that the two far Accords on the far left appear to be a slightly different shade of red? Maybe it's polish, or maybe one was in an accident. Any thoughts?

No m8, official figure is 209/212hp dependant where you look and 160lb tq, we find that virtually all rolling roaded ATR's make more power, normaly 218-222hp seems about right.

Its not just about straight lines though and if you've never driven an ATR you wont understand, I was in the same train of thought when I saw it "its just an Accord, isn't it?" how wrong was I. Stiff and shore footed, shamed the S4 and vRS that I was looking at. EVO didn't give the ATR 5/5 for any old reason, its a really suprisingy car and I can't stand it when some nipple in a 1.1 micra calls it crap when they've never driven one.

Horses for course though, I agree doesn't look the most exciting but trust me when your flying around A-B roads it really, really doesn't matter what it looks like because as a performance midship package its a treat. :)

Have you actually ever driven an ATR?

I agree with you on some levels, sure it just looks like an Accord with a few bits but thats how most midships work, Honda have never been known for their zelous in the beauty department - more function over form tbh.

However if you've never drive one, you really don't have a leg to stand on suggesting they are just another Accord, for a start Honda modify the chasis adding 40% stiffness without adding any excess weight, they drop the overal kerb weight, remove flex by getting rid of the sun roof, stiffen the floor pan, suspension, uprate the braking system massively etc etc. Its a 'properly' engineered car and NOT just an Accord. :)

It LOOKS like just another Accord. Even if it had 600bhp, 4wd and the best handling ever, that wouldn't change how it looks.

I'm not doubting its a great car. I'm just saying it looks like another Honda Accord.

Thats a fair comment, same goes for the Mondeo ST though... and as I said, most other 'hot' saloons. :)

Exactly, it's all subjective. Thing with the Mondeo though, and a big part of the reason why I like it, is becuase the bodykit does actually make them look noticeably different to the regular car. It has a deeper front bumper, pronounced sideskirts, rear bumper, etc. You know it's a rep car with a suit on :p

All I'm going to say I'm thankful the ATR looks pretty bland (read as Stealth ;)) because I rarely get boy racers even giving me a glance, which I can't be doing with, I'll show they how to drive on a track not on public roads.

:)

... that's coming from a 24 year old lad, damn I'm even sounding like I wair a smoking jacket, must be the Accord effect. ;)

As much as it pains me to do so, I have to side with the string-backed-driving-glove, it-got-a-good-review-in-Glass's-guide one.

We all know it is a 'hot Accord' but it's not subdued enough to be a Q-car and not lairy enough to shout about what it is capable of. It does look unfinished.

I'd quite like to see the function of that ironing board on the boot...

I love the Type-R's. Very very nice cars. I'd love to have one when I'm older!

Seeing 6 lined up in a row would have caught my attention for sure

Let me draw your attention to the Rover Turbo's ;)

The Coupe and Hatch will do it in around 6.2. They're 200bhp, well 197.

The 1.5tonne Vitesse Sport will do it in 7.2.

Oh, hang on, it's you who used to have the 420 Tubby right? :o

If you read the white paper from Honda (or should I say, sad enough to read it :o ) then you'll know it's been tested and designed to reduce lift at speeds in excess of 70mph. Its there for stability at high speed. :)

I hear what you are saying mate but it doesnt add up on power to weight in my opinion.
Im sure its an awesome car, but its too big and heavy to get to 60 in 6.1 seconds with 200-210 bhp. And thats the only thing Im debating.
Parkers say 7.2 secs which sounds more likely and is still very respectable, although I could believe it just slips into the high sixes which is a damn site better than my VTi.
I actually like how the Accord looks and Honda type R handling is never in ddespute as far as Im concerned. :) Id definaltey test drive one, and Im not knocking it, its a great car. :)
