Son excluded from school!

I suppose that Parents that do not recognise such behaviour in their children also fall into that category.

Both my kids are and have been in highest level and gifted and talented groups in school. Perhaps your overbearing nature is showing on your kids...

He's 13,and no,boxing lessons are not for him,he's the most placid kid I know, even though he did karate for 5 years!

Send him to boxing for 5 years and he'll actually learn something useful. Will probably grow more confident, get very fit and no it won't turn him into a thug.

RE: Complaining to Ofsted - ridiculous. Ofsted have 'some' powers to investigate claims of poor conduct, however, they would refer directly to the LEA for a case such as this. Ofsted is an inspection and regulation service, not someone to complain to over a one day exclusion.

From their official website; 1. Complaints about the service providers we inspect or regulate

We have some powers to investigate your concerns about services we inspect or regulate, but would usually suggest that you start by discussing your worries directly with the person in charge, for example the headteacher or service manager.

In fact, @jon.bda, your post about Ofsted is entirely wrong.

My overbearing nature, do you know me? well no, otherwise you wouldn't have made such a ridiculous statement.

And my son has no problems either at school or at home, neither am I judging your children but rather you, based on the myriad of childish and immature responses you have given to people who have offered sound advice.

I am glad that your children are doing well academically at school, it is obvious that they are talented if they can accomplish and sustain such excellence in the face of such Parental ineptitude if your attitude in this thread translates to your actual personality in the real world.

I hope that it does not and is only a reaction to the loss of your Pet this evening.

wow what a way to overreact? :/ in 1.5 years I've been in school I've had 3 fights none of them are even on my record... worrying about scratching lol.. i have not been excluded tho.

I've been suspended from school 3 times and I'm now at uni. It hasn't affected me in any way that I can tell.

This. I got excluded at school a few times, graduated this year with a first degree.

The only way it's possibly going to effect this kid in any long term way is if a massive deal is made out it when it doesn't need to be.

If I was in your situation OP, I would come down on the school so hard they would bloody well make sure they started taking the bullying seriously.

I'm very annoyed,as this will now go on his school record, and I think this will affect him in the future.

As others have said, I doubt it.

Schools are pretty crap when it comes to hearing both sides of the story, they'll just believe what they see. I was excluded for getting into a fight and having my head shoved through a window and they expected me to pay for half the costs, needless to say, I was less than impressed.

Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about his school record. Mine is/was very colourful and I've had no problems with higher education, they look more at academic achievement.

Edit: Also, send him off to martial arts, will do him some good as long as he doesn't run around thinking he's Bruce Lee.

If what you're son says is the complete truth then there's no doubt that you should be taking this matter further. Children don't get excluded for scratching, most of the time they don't even get excluded for minor scuffles. I remember the odd little fight here and there at school and never remember anyone being excluded for it. Excluding is normally seen as the last resort.

You haven't stated what year your son is in, but if he's in primary it's extremely unlikely it will effect him. If he's in secondary, depending on how competitive getting into sixth-form / college is where you are, there's fair chance it would effect him. The college I went to wouldn't even consider someone who had been from school.

Just go in there and stir up a complete **** storm, and demand that it doesn't go on his personal record and that the other offenders are dealt with immediately.

That's what I'd do.

you are the sort of person that makes the the teachers jobs a nightmare....

excluded for 1 day? what difference does that make?

if your kids are being bullied speak to the school, if you kids are punished accept the schools decision unless maybe its something more severe... excluded for 1 day is nothing..

schools would be better places of more parents just accept the schools authority and dont bitch and moan because their kids are told off for using mobiles and smoking etc etc etc.. you jsut teach the kids that there is no authority..

one minute we are bitching about wasted tax's the next we are wasting teachers time on a trivial matter like your son scratched mine... kids are at school for years and learn next to nothing being excluded for one day makes no difference.
