From what I can remember Japan has rather a lot of online gamers (although maybe mmorpg players mainly).

yeah i meant consoles, and even then i dont know how much they do MMO's in Japan, i think its more Koreans but i could be wrong about that. But afaik console multiplayer gaming isnt a big thing in Japan

You cant use a keyboard and mouse from the comfort of your sofa
You would uneven the playing field if some used keyboards and some used joypads

Actually the ps2 was the first console to offer dolby digital, progressive scan and high-def, it also supports voice com.

The NTSC version of Gran Turismo 4 could output at 1080i.

However, I never felt it looked that good, but it is a HD resolution

Thats true also Sony had handles, trying to think if SOCOM came out before xbox live and i think it did.

Also, not wanting to start a fight here, but can you clear up xbox live? it is a very funny one to throw in and i think it was deliberate, sure only MS can release xbox live, but the first of that gen of consoles to go online was actually the gamecube IIRC. And before that we had the Dreamcast which could also be played online.
And the first game online for the PS2 was Tony Hawk pro skater 3, which i believe came out in 2001.
Downloadable content, wasnt this available on the SNES?? i am sure i seen someone on here about a SNES satelite thing you could download games with?

So MS might have refined a lot of a lot of it, and made it easier and a bit more accessable, but they sure didnt pioneer it

Just remembered the DC online thing, was that the silly mouse game thing, Chu Chu Rocket wasn't it? Seem to remember not being able to buy it and having to order it from Sega. Might be my memory playing tricks again.

But pioneering is exploring into the unknown, trying something never been done before, just showing it was already discovered and tried

And the only one that was used in such a small manner was the nintendo DLC, the online gaming had already started on consoles before Live came along, and we wont even mention it on PC's

And you could play Quake 3 online on the DC

amongst others i am told lol

Wasn't having a go matey, just something that riles me

BTW, when I started this thread it wasn't to start more Sony Vs MS rubbish. I just think it's amazing the number of things that have gone wrong with the launch.

I remember when all the Sony guys were laughing at the MS shortages at launch and saying it was bad. Think I'd rather struggle to find one than it just not be here.
