Sony Xperia 5 II

Sorry I don't understand, are you saying the camera is fast because of the dedicated button or so slow it took a picture 2 seconds after the event?

Can the camera be used with the torch on, and does it take decent close up images?

I like the way the design has kept the headphone socket, notification light, no hole punch camera, no under screen fingerprint, and a flat display.

I can't seem to find those features in any other phone

1) It is very fast - Man City scored and has I picked my phone up I touched the dedicated camera button on the side and the picture was taken immediately.

2) Yes you can leave the torch on (I do it a lot) and even though it doesn't have a Macro you can take Macro pictures. This was a buying point for me and somebody pn another thread posted pictures.

3) At first I didn't like the fingerprint on the side and it actually took a few goes to set it up but it works every time now.

Using the dedicated camera button on the side I was able to pick the phone up and take a photo of Man City scoring about 2 seconds after they scored.
How much faster do you want it?

This is also the best camera I've ever had on a phone but it is my first expensive phone.

Do you not get circle please wait when taking the a photo in the regular app? Maybe Im just using it wrong?

I get the circle taking a photo message quite frequently but not all the time. If the target moves during the circle message it is guaranteed that the photo will be blurry. That's my only gripe with the camera. The rest is fine.

I get this aswell, drives me up the wall, I thought it was meant to be able to take like 20 images a second so you'd think it'd be able to focus super fast. In low light the images are poor as well I find.

I can confirm I just took 20 pictures very quickly with no circle and created an animation, you must have to turn a setting off.

I get the dumb circle too, it's super annoying as sometimes it takes upwards of 10 seconds to take a picture.

Is that the burst shooting while holding the camera capture button?

Yes but be advised it is the very first time I've done it and I moved the camera very quickly.
I didn't know you could turn them into a film until I clicked on one and gave me the option.
Just took a single picture of my office PC, no circle.

I think the burst option is a work around for the circle message. For single point and shoot there is no other option (as far as I know) but to stay still and hope the target does not move.

Are you guys saying the phone won't allow you to take a picture until it thinks the shot is ready?

My current phone I open the app, touch to focus normally (not always) then take the pic.

You can take the pic whenever you want. It's the processing that can give some delay.

I updated to android 11. I think the performance got slower as games that i play now have skipping frames occasionally

I get a message now after updating to android 11 that the photo might be blurry if camera or target moves during the circle.

I've been keeping an eye on the prices and Amazon has this for 650. So pulled the trigger :D

Can anyone recommend a slim case and decent glass protector.

Ta

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a black 5 ii. £129.00 up front and £26/month for 25gb with EE via fonehouse. Total of £753, minus hopefully £24 cashback via quidco.

What cases are people using? Got the Spigen one for my gf and it looks good, but I'd rather have a different one so that we can distinguish our phones.
