South Park

Randy centric episode is pretty much guaranteed to be a good episode.

This is so true. Every time I start watching an episode and realise it's a Randy one, I know I'm in for a good time.

Was cracking up constantly during this one at the The Shining references.

"Stan! Stanny boy! I'm comminnn!"

I'm not sure I got everything it was referring to - I know the performance enhancing drugs thing was a reference to Lance Armstrong's ban, but what were the wristbands all about? Is there some kind of wristband craze in the States now? Did Lance Armstrong try to deflect attention away from his ban by taking up a cause? It was just one of those episodes that are a little bit too topical for me to "get".

I think the whole 'Livestrong' thing was what pretty much kicked off the trend for coloured wristbands with causes on them.

Yeah the Scause episode was terrible. If people are saying previous episodes from this season, which I thought were ok were bad, then this one is going to get flamed!

I wouldn't say terrible I thought it was kin d of funny. It wasn't as good as previous ones in the season but there were still multiple chuckles for me in the 20 minutes. I am quite surprised that this is the first time they've taken the mick out of the wristbands though, I suppose with Lance's charges though that it's as good a time as any.

I really do appreciate how quickly they can make an episode! The plot was sheer genius managing to link the starwars-disney thing with the election and also add a handful of chinese shenanigans.

It's just a shame there isn't an episode next week!

No, what is REAL genius is that they get their network to pay for them and all their writers to go on a 6-week retreat to Hawaii once a year, supposedly to work out the plots of new episodes - but since at least half the episodes in every season end up being so topical they can't have been written more than 2-3 weeks before the airdate at most, my guess is they do anything but work during those 6 weeks! :D

Where did you hear that?

I'm sure I watched a documentary on it and within the week they think of the plot (this can sometimes take a few days and they aren't happy with it, but havE to use it anyway due to time). And then animate/voice over it.
