South Park

Reality taking the stage in front of everyone was a highlight.

Thought it was far too preachy. Why is it always people with a lot of money telling everyone else to donate their hard-earned?

I felt like Parker and Stone were siding with the stores asking for donations, and implying that people who don't donate are the problem. It was all very Bono.

I didn't get that impression at all. I thought they were on Randy's side. To me it came across as you should give money, but if you don't want to you shouldn't feel pressured into doing so.

How did you get that feeling? It was quite clear with how over the top it was that they were against the stores for doing this.

Exactly. Whilst it wasn't condoning the pressure sales tactics, it /was/ saying that you /should/ give money each time you do your shopping.

And the scenes with Randy in the 3rd world country reinforced that message. They deliberately had the poor/starving kid say "when Americans are shamed into giving, everybody loses." The "everybody loses" part was highly sarcastic.

There were basically saying everybody should give money when they shop, but that the pressure sales tactics were also wrong.

So like I said, preachy. Personally I don't think being asked to donate when you're doing your groceries is appropriate. It would be more palatable if the store was matching your donation, but if it's just the store asking you to give your money, then that's objectionable to me.

Got to say I'm not a huge fan of the new season, some parts have made me laugh but it's lost something. They seem to be going in a very specific direction and it's lost some of it's charm. I'd like to see some episodes about them getting back to simply being kids again.

I know specific current-events humour has always been in South Park but not necessarily built upon it with the same joke being done over and over again. This new stuff won't age well at all IMO.

So description of this coming weeks episode is out:

"SOUTH PARK TITLE: TWEEK x CRAIG Episode #1906 Air date: October 28, 2015
The Asian girls in school are drawing dreamy pictures of Tweek and Craig."

Yesterday they asked fans to send in fan art of a yaoi (do not google if at work...) nature for those two characters yesterday to include in the show.

Few of my other mates that watch South Park really liked this episode, but I didn't think it was very good...
I guess the song at the end had some good lyrics, and the incorrect history of Japan raised a smile. I just didn't think it was usual South Park standard! Have thought this season has been "just ok" so far.

What did everyone else think? I feel like the point/joke has gone way over my head.

So what was the episode actually trying to say...who can sum it up?
Danged if I know. Something something tolerance. Something something can't control everyone else's thoughts of you so don't try and change to influence them. Something something keep quiet when having a **** on the toilet.

It was just refreshing to not feel strongarmed into thinking about an issue that's much more relevant to another continent's society, and instead bask in some good ol' universal crude humour. That's a balance that's been way off from the South Park norm this series.

lol no idea.

"Yaoi" is a slang meaning 'boys love' or homosexuality that is used in the japanese language. Popular with fangirls who like their favorite anime guys to kiss.

Obviously they were ripping gay people like normal no change there.

Only thing I picked up on was that they showed how much Cartman loves himself, but he doesn't want to admit this to himself as he thinks it makes him gay. Therefore the end scene he imagines himself getting bumed by the cupid him, when in reality we see what his Mum sees and it's him having a **** lol
