Southport stabbings

A statement from Merseyside Police last night confirmed he was born in Cardiff.
They said he lived in Banks but was "originally" from Cardiff. It isn't an outright lie, just a deception. He was born in Rwanda and came to the UK as a "refugee".

The police and government delay telling you the attacker is foreign or Muslim to allow people's anger to dissipate, and so they don't associate the attack with Islam or immigration.

You can find the details on twitter or rmx news.

Not sure why they don't release this ASAP. It only fuels the social media witch hunt.

With the way the world is, better to knock rumours out immediately if legally can

Initially, it's a confusing situation. The risk of early release is that inaccurate information gets published.

Also, if the attacker is 17, there are legal restrictions on identifying information. That means talking to lawyers, which slows everything down.

While I'm all for publication of information, I can understand why this can't be done as quickly or fully as I'd like.

I remember when one of the channels were going to broadcast a documentary about the grooming gangs and an election was called so they delayed it for fear of the BNP gaining support.

They were more concerned about the BNP than children and parents getting awareness about child abusers.

That was a wake up call for me. Since then that attitude the media have as become their normal response.

What is wrong with people these days!? Trying to downplay and cover up crimes because it doesn't suit there narrative.

Yesterday someone on tv was miminizing child rape. They didn't even want to use the words.

It's easy to see how the grooming gangs cover up happened.

I think these people are sick in the head. They can't accept the reality of things going wrong.

It always annoys me when they immediately report it as a tragedy. It's an outrage.

What is wrong with you? This is the second time you brought up grooming gangs, child rape and abuse on a thread that is about a mass stabbing…

Talk about twisting the agenda to fit ones narrative.

The Telegraph reported this yesterday. It's going to fit the right wing narrative regardless of finer details and motive...

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons and is originally from Cardiff, moved to the Southport area with his Rwandan parents when he was aged six.

"Coulters law" is that the longer the delay in disclosing the race or religion of a suspect the less likely they are to be a while male.

It is something she observed about media disclosure in USA. It holds in the entire west. They don't want you to understand negative consequences of immigration until it is too late.

Where's your evidence for him being "Born in Rwanda" in direct contention with what the Police have said?
Please don't just quote Twitter.

I don't know if he was born here on not, but there is little doubt the authorities do manage information very carefully to avoid a public backlash.

The published version of the statement specifically says 'Born in Cardiff' so somebody is indeed telling an outright lie, he wasn't born in Cardiff and Rwanda. The question is whether that's people on twitter or the police.

I'm not really sure where he's from matters at this stage? We have virtually no details.

The reason the police have confirmed he was born in Cardiff is to dispel rumours of him being an immigrant freshly off the boats.

I have no idea what the law is but the 15 year old lad who stabbed a 12 year old in my town was named.
