Given the nature of the crime, previous terror attacks in the UK and across Europe, literally tens of thousands of unidentified men swarming the country, plus the police being vague, the assumptions weren't exactly implausible.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice enough place, especially for the north, but it never struck me as a 'safe' place. Wiltshire is heaven in comparison, very little crime to hear of.

I've lived in some rough places, I've lived in Streatham and Brixton in London for starters. I come from Liverpool. I've never known anywhere like Southport for being dangerous with a veneer of normality. It's part of it's attraction when you're a kid too. It's like the wild west. Amusement arcades and dodgy people coming out after dark.

My god he can't win. Shows up and its just for the cameras. Doesn't show up and its disrespectful. And who ever was heckling him should have a word with themselves. There is a time and place and that wasn't it.

The debate only gets shut down when attempted by the normal channels.

They can't whine when people make sure it can't be shut down.

Why should they be surprised like? If you haven't seen the warning signs you're part of the problem.

And no, shutting down the debate on this subject in the name of "virtue," isn't solving the problem.
 
I'm not surprised by these events. There are high emotions that aren't being channeled in the right way.

There is frustration with the system.

The only way to change the establishment is to win at elections.

I know they need to get information correct, and that takes time, but they need a way of stopping those rumours taking off by saying they are false.

Problem is, the trust is gone and people no longer listen to or believe what they say.

These people give don't care about the actual suspect, they are just ****** off at being fobbed off.

Labour gained Southport with an increase of 1.5% ish swing. They won because the conservative vote collapsed and the reform support surged. Make of that what you will about the people of that town.

You are never going to stop that happening now with social media. The police can't just release any old crap to keep the baying crowds happy. This is the price we pay for social media. Eventually it will lead to some poor bugger getting beaten to death because some bad actors on Twitter just want to cause division and idiots take it all seriously.

What problem? The EDL/Kipper/Reform problem? Nothing to do with virtue, all to do with mindless misplaced violence in the name of blaming everything else for their own problems. That simple.
