Space Hulk: Deathwing

Why does anybody pre-order anything ever, are they going to run out of digital stock?

There's a financial discount (likely similar to just shopping around post-release) and a pre-order bonus weapon. That's the only incentive I can see in this case.

Sometimes you can also get an early-access pre-download, so avoid trying to download it on release day.

Effectively "not much".

I'm still on the fence, I need to play a demo or something first, not a fan of pre-ordering unknown quantities in this day and age where its becoming more and more acceptable to release unfinished game and then fixing them with DLC and add-ons rather than fixing the actual core..

I can understand if you've played a demo or seen gameplay, and there are 'exclusive' items for pre-ordering which you're interested in. But when there's no demo to play or gameplay to see... each to their own I suppose!

I've preordered it. I was always going to buy it because it's exactly the game I want to play. Even if it's not an amazing game, for me the setting and lore makes up for it for me. However, the gameplay footage was enough to convince me they had gotten it right, and the gamescom reviews all sounded very positive as well.

Shush! How are we going to find out if it's crap or decent on day one if some schmuck doesn't pre-order it?

Someone will. And we can always check out some reviews on YT. As it's not an AAA title I'd imagine a key will drop below £20 fairly quickly.

See? Told you so. :)

Do let us know what you think and if reviews are good I may pick it up, but with TF2 and BF1 if I do buy it I may not have much time to play.

I said exactly the same for NMS.:(

It's exactly the type of game on paper that I want to play as well. I've played Space Hulk since edition 1 of the board game, I skipped edition 2, and bought the latest edition 3.5. I played the Amiga version of Space Hulk, Vengeance of the Blood Angels on PS1 and most recently the board game version currently on Steam. I love the lore, I like FPS games, I really enjoy the co-operative element of games like Left 4 Dead.

I still won't pre-order a game blind.
