Spanish Grand Prix 2010, Circuit de Catalunya - Race 5/19

i think McLaren should have put the little duct for the 'f duct' inside the side pod so you cant see it, then not say anything about it. be all sneaky like.

Of course the F duct has been banned for next year anyway, which seems a shame.

yea you know what would have been epic for next year if the f-duct was mechanicaly operated and linked to the kers button so drivers would only get use of the f-duct when kers was ready to be used it would garuntee over taking almost

The F-duct ban is a shame. It's things like this that the sport desperately needs for aid overtaking.

Instead of banning it the FIA could have embraced it but put some rules in place to prevent teams spending millions on R+D for similar concepts.

Ha! JLS, you do realise you mention this more than anyone else?

Presumably you're talking to me gord, since it's my post you quoted. I guess I'll forgive you lot for getting my screen-name wrong, after all I often wonder how it is that some of you twonks remember how to breathe in and out. You'd think with it only being three letters it'd be easy. Hey ho.*

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. Can you tell me when the last time I mentioned Spa '08 was? This thread aside, obviously.

Having a massive sense-of-humour failure regarding some of you lately. Apologies to NathanE who I obviously offended. Apologies to Hxc for sunama et al taking your spelling mistake and going on a fairly unfunny run with it. And apologies to the rest of you for my aforementioned sense-of-humour failure. See y'all in the Monaco thread :)

Because the FIA and the teams realise that things like F-Ducts have no merits other than to improve straight-line speed. Once one team have it,all teams have it and its back to the status quo. KERS on the other hand has far out-reaching benefits to the general public.

This line of development makes more sense.

I heard from an insider that Webber will control the RBR duct with his chin

In saying that, even when Alonso removes both hands, 1 hand is less than a few cms away from the wheel. In fact, a lot of people wouldn't even notice him doing it, if they were shown onboard footage - thats how close his left hand is to the steering wheel.

.

And how long does it take for an accident to happen.................

milliseconds (or put it another way - every ms counts)

Can it (with any sane mind) be argued that the Ferrari design is putting other people in additional un-necessary danger- I personally dont think so

I wouldnt give a **** if he was only putting himself in additional harm's way - but he blatantly isnt (especially in Monaco)

Anyway it makes no difference - even if Alonso does have a crash, and there is evidence to prove he wasnt fully in control at the time, in all likelyhood the FIA would ignore it

You're my favourite. <hugs JLR>

But in your persistent enraged state of hilarity, which has affected normal thought process, I feel the need to explicitly state that I was referencing the FIA's continued decision making, rather than Spa specifically.

And upgraded to twonk, we've clearly all gone up in your estimation!

The pointless fine for the careless / dangerous release in qualifying - not to mention how the FIA are usually blind in majority of cases where Ferrari are concerned (or being very heavy - handed with Ferrari's direct competitors)

So true.

But I will say that if there is an accident, while Alonso is driving no handed, the FIA will definitely intervene, as they do seem to value saftey a great deal. Until the accident happens though, it doesnt look like any intervention is likely.

As for Button's team-mate, Ecclestone admits he hasn't been at all impressed with Hamilton because, even though he is overtaking his rivals, he's not getting the results.

"People praise his overtaking but you don't get any points for passing cars."

I also said the same thing to NathanE earlier on.
Bernie maybe a turd sometimes, but I have to agree with him on this one. Hamilton is on the same points as Massa who (as most people would say) has driven less than average thusfar.

Hamilton was 1 lap away from getting an extra 18 points. Had his car not failed, he would've been in 2nd place in the WDC (I think).

Hamilton's done well, though he was poor during qualifying in Australia. That was his blip.

Oh come on. If Hamilton's rim didn't fall apart he would be second in the WDC and ONE point behind Button. Hamilton has had 5 good races but has had very poor luck while Button has had 2 good races and 3 ordinary races but he won the rain lottery.

One thing I have learnt about F1 is that I have stopped using Ifs and Buts.

If Hamiltons rim had not exploded...
If Alonsos engine did not blow up a few races ago...
If Sebs car didnt fail him in Bahrain...

If if if if if if ....

What counts at the end of the day is this...

6 Lewis Hamilton British McLaren-Mercedes 49
7 Felipe Massa Brazilian Ferrari 49
