Spanish Grand Prix 2011, Circuit de Catalunya- Race 5/19

So I didn't really see it mentioned much, but is there a reason that massa was almost 1s down on alonso?

The only thing I can think of is that he didn't adapt well enough to the old wing being put back on or they didn't get the setup right when it went back on.

Alonso said the car was un-driveable with the old wing on so maybe Alonso's guys did a better job of compensating for it than Massa's.

Or it could be that Alonso just showed why he is rated as the best driver in F1? He was able to adapt to the new configuration of the car, within a few laps, while Massa might need the entire race to adapt to the new configuration.

What we saw today was a classic example of the driver making the difference.

Webber doing what he does best at Catalunya! comon Webberrrrr!!!

Also, Alonso I think made a pretty good move signing for that long with Ferrari, he's basically sitting pretty for the next 5 years. Well done to him I say.

Don't know if this has been mentioned already but after Q1 when they showed the screen on the front of the lotus it looked like the bbc feed. Whats up with that?

has anyone seen any comparison to mclaren and red bulls DRS when open/closed?

the mclaren slot looks tiny and is mid wing were as i think the red bull whole top of the wing folds flat.

its also ridiculous how the red bulls can open that flat even before they have entered the last corner were as everyone else is having to wait till the exit.

There have been a few writeups on it recently. Basically, the design of the flap either gives you an advantage in quali or the race, you can't have it both ways. RBR's DRS is designed for maximum quali advantage.

The RB does have a very high level of grip though - the onboard shots are great while it is cornering.

What is the difference on the dirty side, is it small or big, i mean if Vettel has no KERS and dirty side, Hamilton will have him with Button following closely

I only caught Q3 and that appears to have been quite enough.

F1's dullest track produced the most bizarre, or rather, the lamest qualifying session I think I've ever seen. I bet the paying spectators were chuffed... At the rate this tyre situation is going it'll hardly be worth setting a time.

Then again, I've always preferred racers to one lap wonders. So...
