Spanish Grand Prix 2012, Catalunya - Race 5/20

From the BBC thread
"Spain (live) - qualifying 1210 BST 13 May; race 1210 BST 14 May" :)

I see MSC is telling how it is with the **** tires again
"I just think that they're playing a much too big effect because they are so peaky and so special that they don't put our cars or ourselves to the limit,"

Very very true.

cheers for that, will take any live f1 at the moment, even if its Barcelona lol :D

Nice one with the thread and YAY bbc race :)

Was it last year Hamilton and Vettel had a really good race?? Repeat that with messy tyres and it nearly nearly could be a good race!

Also there needs to be some sort of campaign to put the last corner back to how it was, the chicane has been terrible for years.

Woohoo, been a few weeks, Although nicely MotoGP, V8 Supercars, BTCC have been in the middle to keep me going. Weather looks interesting Sunday. I don't think this race will be that much better than most @ spain unless the weather is a bit ropey.

It looked so promising last year when Alonso banzai'd into the lead :(

I just think that they're playing a much too big effect because they are so peaky and so special that they don't put our cars or ourselves to the limit," he told CNN ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

"We drive like on raw eggs and I don't want to stress the tires at all. Otherwise you just overdo it and you go nowhere."
it also says
He was backed by McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh, whose drivers also struggled with the tires. Jenson Button suffered a puncture with three laps remaining, retiring on the penultimate lap, while Lewis Hamilton finished down in eighth and lost his championship lead to race winner Sebastian Vettel.
but theres no quote.

Buttons puncture was caused by one of the Mercs broken exhaust, which damaged the diff as well, going by his interview on the Sky F1 show.

he says you cant push on them but it suits his style like it does buttons

So the guy who has won a race this year thinks their not that bad, while the guy who hasn't been on the podium and struggled to fight his way forward from the back thinks they are the worst thing ever.

I think all of the comments from anyone about tyres at the moment need to come with a free packet of salt.

And lol Spunkey :D

Edit: hey, they stopped your name being filtered?

Schumacher is right, these tyres are ****, they should make them slightly harder so you can get a good 15 solid laps out of them pushing maximum attack

he might have won a race but after he won it he said the tyres didnt let him push at all and he was just conserving them for the whole race.

I thought the quote was that he didn't push because he didn't need to? It wasn't like he was under pressure.

But that would then just make people do a 1 stop and manage the tyres for longer.

Making the tyres last longer wont mean people push more. They will just manage the tyres for longer stints and do less pit stops. At the moment managing the tyres and doing less stops will always trump pushing harder and stopping more. Just look at the Bridgestone era recently.
