Spanish Grand Prix 2012, Catalunya - Race 5/20

We need the 1997 Bridgestones back, they were virtually indestructable (as Panis at the Spanish GP and Hill at the Hungarian GP demonstrated) :p

As the 1997 Spanish GP footage shows, Panis scythes through the field from 14th on the grid, despite making an extra stop over the drivers in front of him.

Making the tyres last longer wont mean people push more. They will just manage the tyres for longer stints and do less pit stops. At the moment managing the tyres and doing less stops will always trump pushing harder and stopping more. Just look at the Bridgestone era recently.

I know what you mean, perhaps the answer is to have the tyres produce more chemical grip, have it managed in a different way

The manufactures are doing what they have been asked, so they cant be faulted really, i just feel it makes it a bit to fake combined with DRS and all that

80/1 on Massa winning.

Same odds as Button winning the title before the 2009 season started. Good sign, tbh.

Button was 200/1 when I looked after the first day of the Barcelona test where the Brawn was revealed and went fastest. After ignoring the naysayers and checking some tweets from the circuit - all saying the Brawn looked awesome in the corners, I very nearly went to put £20 on Button for the title. Gutted that I didn't!!

I put a fiver on Button and Rubens after i saw the first flying lap

Everyone said "glory run" i was pretty sure it was legit, i never bet really unless im confident, and now i wish i put some more lol

Damn son, that 4 grand would have been mighty sweet...

I did exactly the same.

200/1 at testing. Thought "nah, it will just be for show"

80/1 before the start of the Australian weekend. Though "I'll just wait till practice is over"

Then after practice it was 20/1, then after qualifying something like 2/1, and after the race was utterly pointless putting any money on him.

:(

As well as running the higher nose, McLaren have made changes to their pit-stops

He also confirmed that changes to both the team’s pit stop personnel, and procedures, were afoot after problems with problematic left-rear wheel nuts in both China and Bahrain. “We’ve looked at what we were doing, we have made some changes to the team and the process and we’ll see them on Sunday in Barcelona.” Whitmarsh also expressed surprise that so many people had put themselves forward for roles in the crew: “I wondered whether we would get volunteers for some of the more critical positions and I was just astounded by just how many guys in the team wanted to put themselves in those challenging positions. It reflects well on the spirit within the team. There’s been a reasonable amount of practice, some changes in process and they’ll be seen at the weekend. I believe we’ll have good pit stops.”

Here's hoping...

Ross Brawn is too ill to attend the GP, hope he makes a quick recovery :)

Nico might get a decent strategy this weekend then ;)

Does anyone reckon the race will be finished before 3pm on Sunday? I hope so as I have to pick someone up after that.

Can just imagine Martin Brundle explaining to the viewers that the Sunny Side Up ones are the ones with the yellow spot in the middle. Otherwise known as the 'option'.
