Spanish Grand Prix 2012, Catalunya - Race 5/20

Schumy is on his way out and everyone knows it. Not the man he used to be. Cars have moved on but he is stuck in a time warp.

I don't think he is stuck in a time warp.
I think its more a case of his age. No sportsman can be at the top of the game, for such a long time.

MSc has decent speed, but he is getting involved in a heck of a lot of incidents (whether those incidents are directly his fault are not, are completely irrelevant - the fact that he is getting involved in these incidents is creating a huge points deficit. A top driver must learn to adapt and drive more defensively, just as Hamilton is now doing).
wtf are you talking about? hes had 1 incident this year that was his fault..... and for the last half of the season last year he was doing fine

oh wait sorry
he shaved 100grams off his gearbox trying to save weight and thats why it broke.
he break tested grosjean
he tried to make his drs more efficient by using fishing line instead of a metal wire.
he was rushing to much in his pitstop and forgot to tighten one of his wheels.

YUP your right way to many incidents!

we can forgive the wheel nut one though because hamilton messes up his every race aswell

If you compare MSc with Kimi (and I feel that both drivers are comparable), Kimi is now consistently beating his team-mate (which is VERY important) - MSc is not doing the same.
kimis team mate thats in his first year of f1...
that lotus seems a much better car than the merc or grosjean is ayrton senna reincarnated

No one has any idea the fuel loads of the cars on a Friday so comparisons in the times are basically meaningless.

Not at all - they were doing long runs (from what I understand) on Friday, so fuel level's must have been decently high

Practice we all know means pretty much jack, especially this year! Without knowing fuel loads or engine modes how can you possibly say who is fastest?

You have a point about engine modes, but even so given the fact that everyone has been having problems, and parts of Friday sessions are dedicated to long /high fuel runs for a lot of teams - Im not sure they would waste the time they have available

I was also under the impression that the times were very comparable to those in qualifying - and with quali being the fastest they can possibly go, everything points to JB having a good race setup on Friday

Ryan Giggs! :D

That fella could go on till hes 50!

Hehehe.
Giggs is an exceptional sportsman. His goal against Arsenal in 1999 has to be his greatest moment.

Do bear in mind though that he isnt the best in the position he plays (where he once was). MSc, was the best and held that mantle for about 13 seasons.

I hate to talk about tyres, but I will do so one more time.

Taken from the Mark Webber column:

It's a really open season and what is clear is that the tyres are the biggest factor to get right.

All the teams are struggling to understand them.
On Friday in Barcelona, for example, Jenson looked really strong, and yet he finished the race ninth, not being able to get any pace.

Drivers and teams do everything they can to try to predict how the car is going to be at a given race and how the tyres are going to behave.

Apparently, contrary to what some have been saying on this board, all teams are struggling to understand the tyres and the best way to get them to work.
