Spec me a board game for Christmas

When the only people who will play board games at Christmas with you are your parents :D

Oof. Come round mine Cheese, have a beer and a bit of Christmas cheer, I get the feeling you could use a bit of cheer :)

My Christmas wish list has Galaxy Trucker on it....its fairly straightforward but maybe a bit too much thinking for what you are after. I'm bursting to play it though.

Ticket To Ride and Splendour also good shouts. I play a lot of Secrets too.

Swindonopoly.

It’s like Monopoly, but less exciting due to it just being The Magic Roundabout and 39 squares that no-one outside Swindon cares about. 50/50 chance of the person suggesting a group play it being battered unconscious and the rest going down the pub instead.

All my relatives are either:
. No longer here
. Live 80 plus miles away
. To frail to travel
. I don’t get on with them.

Im jealous of friends who have most of their family living a few miles away and get on with each other.

Where do you live cheese? Maybe we could all have a party with your 'rents

Azul is highly recommended. Easy to learn and leads to people staring daggers at each other.

Other notable mentions:

Ticket to Ride
Settlers of Catan
Carcassonne
Flamme Rouge

Co-op games:

Pandemic
Forbidden Island
Castle Panic
Flash Point: Fire Rescue

Take a look at those and see what piques your interest. Plenty of really good games out there! Let us know what kind of themes you like and we can probably recommnend more specific titles.

Splendor for sure. It's quite simple but with some good strategy and is done in about 30-40 minutes.

Ticket to Ride isn't a bad shout, but from recollection could be going on for a couple of hours? So I guess it depends what your definition of 'dragging on forever' is?

Nahhhh it's not that slow.

It's also first player to win, unlike monopoly where it's last player wins.
