Spec me a build

Ooh bit of spring cleaning here. Smells fresh. Apologies mods for not quite entirely 100% being able to resist rising to the bait - he didn't half wind me up though :(. Back to business then? We'll re-spec on wednesday when all the offers change again ;) We will have 10 pages before scone makes his mind up ;):D

Na. It's your money so it's up to you to decide what you want. I don't agree too much on how some people recommend something just because they like it more or biased toward it, and fail to acknowledge the fact that everyone's preference could be different. I don't want you to spend YOUR money on what I prefer, I want you to spend YOUR money on buy something that YOU prefer.

Of the 3 builds, I don't think you can go wrong with any that we finalised...it's all down to how much you want to spend NOW and what will good/acceptable for long-term.

If you are willing to spend the extra, the Phenom II X4 would be the best and most likely has the best longevity, but if you don't want to spend the extra, then you have to decide if gambling on unlocking core on the Phenom II X2 will pay off, or should you just get the i3 530 because it can overclock higher (despite only having two-cores+HT).

Like I mentioned before, a friend of mine who really didn't want to spend too much (kinda like you) and got a Phenom II x2 555BE and he unlocked extra two working cores. If you go Phenom II X2 555BE, one of the following could happen:
Best:
Unlocked two extra working stable cores

Not bad:
Unlocked one extra working stable core

Oh well, I still got a dual-core at least...which was the price I paid:
Can't unlock extra cores or unlocked cores not stable


Or na...I'll play it safe and pay the £40 extra for getting the Phenom II X4 955BE, or £30 extra for the i3 530 4.40GHz bundle (plus the £35.99 CPU cooler).

ill get it then try for quad then tri then dual but if i cant get it and have a dual ill use it till i cant use it anymore and upgrade.best option plus ill have more money by next year onward..

im gonna order on sunday
 
change of plans can anyone spec me a cheaper gpu under 90-100£ or cheaper that will work with the amd build and allow me to run cod4/mw2/fallout new vegas etc, till early next year as i have too cut short but upgrade early next year (dont ask why).
