Spec me a CCTV System

I have a number of Hikvision cameras and am considering adding another. They seem to have shot up in price a lot from Aliexpress and there are far less sellers to choose from.

Where's the best place to order from these days?

That place Ertech.co.uk above seem to be one of the few that will sell to non-trade customers at decent prices.

I don't know why there's this insistence you have to be in "the trade" to buy a camera in the first place, whether they think users will install them incorrectly or will have too much difficulty setting them up, but surely that hurts Hikvisions sales overall.

Brilliant cheers @norm time to order before they disappear again, guessing I just need to register to see prices?

No problem
It's also possible to have it record/be viewable to pc as well
I added it as an ip camera in free ispy software so if pc is turned on can also use it that way too
Considering the low cost pretty decent feature set on it

How do you keep it recording when you close the app?

I want to start it recording when I leave work, so its recording for a few hours ?

does this really offer free cloud storage for 7 day recording (365 days a year) ?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Arlo-Wireless-Security-Rechargeable-Included/dp/B0777VVCBF/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=24/7+recording&qid=1590425242&sr=8-11&srs=14532409031&th=1

i might get that, send mine back as it doesent record..

or can you recommend me something else?

You have to pay extra for that.

Optional 24/7 continuous video recording: Upgrade to keep nonstop recordings in the cloud (available when plugged in and used indoors)

i get it to email the clips
can use micro sd card but its inconvenient unless you
are certain something happened
unless you can browse the sd card remotely
which i dont know if you can or not
i am using motion detection not constant recording
my email client automatically puts the clips in a separate folder
from my inbox for convenience

the reolink c1 pro i picked up for 40 quid at auction
can record to micro sd
record to pc over wifi so doesnt need to be near the pc
can email you motion detection clips
can pan ,tilt remotely from phone or pc
2 way audio
can trigger a siren remotely if needed
though nearly every camera looking out through a window at night
image quality will suffer pretty badly
from low light and from reflection back from the window

I might swap mine for that one, I find mine a bit if reflection etc, this reolink pro is good enough Image quality wise etc for my needs

Just cant record to internal sd card it has in there

So, could that NVR work with Hikvision cameras? (will go hunting through the specs now) I've got 7/8 Hikvision cameras, and an oldish NVR, that was a Chinese import so cant upgrade firmware and has a noisy fan so would love a cheap replacement.

Can't see why not - fairly sure it showed options for standard ONVIF compatible cameras on the IP pages. If I get a chance, I'll double check when I'm home later.

Just picked up one of these (Uniview nvr201-08q)
https://www.cctv-global.co.uk/nvr201-08q

as a stopgap to replace a failing analog DVR, very impressed as improved the quality of my existing cameras no end. Tiny box and fanless as well, and supports IP cameras so can still upgrade when I can afford it.

could this work for me ?
i suppose it depends on what inputs this has ?

im sure my Reolink does the same, will only record if it detects something, which i dont want, i need to record manually

phone / tablet

pressing the take picture or take video buttons don't work, well it does, but you goto playback and theirs nothing, memory card still says xxx free

EDIT /////

just been checking my phone, and the recordings are on my phone ! lol
wasen't expecting that !

so the reolink only records to SD card via motion detection
Records to your phone manually "record"
didn't tell me that in the manual !

ive sent it back now

id rather it record internally anyway rather than phone as i cant be in the app at work all the time

Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a single camera that can sit on the window sill, wireless in terms of network connectivity, (but can be mains powered) to watch my car. It's under a street light so well be lit at night time, pan and tilt useful but not essential by any means.

Ideally something can that record 24/7 or at least when the car is parked - I guess I would only need to review footage if something is amiss. Maybe one I can stick an SD card into or buy/build a NAS or similar if not.

Bought a blink xt2 but sent it back.
