Spec me a CCTV System

Are the images what you expected?

Sorry I was slow was waiting to get it fixed on to soffit etc (not too bad a job, used POE injector), images are ok in daylight however I would say if night vision is important the size and limited IR capability of this camera may not suit, its only rated at 10 metres IR. The microphone however works better than I expected, I`m not snooping on neighbours but have an ongoing dog barking nuisance. Daylight snapshot HERE

Incidentally, on reading ipcameratalk forums I see the "fix" to get English language is available. LINK, as most of these imported via AliExpress are China region-ed and if u upgrad FW it reverts to Chinese.

^^^^from what I am reading they also support a true 120db WDR function, usually found on their more expensive cameras. It would be nice to see some comparative recordings, especially at night.

Can anyone reccomend me a decent but cheap single CCTV IP camera? I have had experience with Y cams in the past.

What I need

- Something thats not expensive
- Something that will work over wired and wifi
- Something that has good video quality
- Store to micro SD card
- Store to tftp server or network file storage
- Something that works well in the dark and light
- Soemthing that is built for outdoors

hi all

my cousin is after a simple setup

1 camera at front of house, going into a DVR of some sort and ability to view the camera remotely

anyone spec me please?

I'm probably being dumb, but I can't get the Hikvision PCNVR software to start automatically if the PC reboots. I've even tried making it a service, but because it takes so long to load it just times out :(

Any ideas please as it rebooted the other day and I didn't know and so I wasn't recording for a few days.

I'm about to buy a home cctv system form CCTV42 and I'm looking for the best method to connect the DVR, which will be placed in the loft, with the router.
This can be either wired or wireless.

i stuck mine in the startup folder and used autologin, works fine with that

After some research I'm going to go for a Hikvision POE setup using a mix of EXIR dome and bullet cameras, 4 domes and 2 bullets.
The cheapest I can find seems to be http://www.cctvkits.co.uk/ cheaper than ebay.
I'm still uncertain whether to go for the 1.3MP or 3MP cameras.
