Spec me a CCTV System

It seems that I would need to create a business account with them first to see prices and to deal with me..?
Do they only deal with trade..?

No they’ve sold to some of my friends without issue but I’ve always told friends to not expect product guidance and configuration support from such sellers as that’s why Hikvision and some other brands won’t officially sell to end users.

The guidance and support aspect I'm generally fine with. Thanks for covering that.
It is dealing with someone, in the UK preferably, rather than buying a NVR from Ali as I have in the past.

Just to let you know, today went up to collect my DS-7616NXI-K2/16P from that company you had suggested, they are reasonably local to me. Very nice person to deal with. Overall the changeover went fine and the NVR is now up and running.
Thanks for your advice.

Can I ask what you paid?
Looking at replacements for our Uni view, as I think it may be on its way out...

how to work out which spec of camera i need for 2m wide and 15 long, its for the side of house with a path and my car out front ?

Quite long and narrow to cover with a single camera. Some cameras have a corridor mode which allows for a portrait image (at least some Hik models since I’ve configured this on them). But if relying on the camera’s built-in IR or LED lights then you’ll not get great results at 15m away at the end of the alley.

Have you considered multiple cameras instead? Siting two at the mid-point of the alley facing opposite directions (or a “single” camera with 2x separate cameras built in or a very wide angle lens)?

You’ll likely want a decent image of the drive/car so I’d be more inclined to have a dedicated camera for that positioned near the car, also acts as a visual deterrent then too.

Anyone using the eufy E340 floodlight camera? I've convinced myself it has all the features I want but concerned that it also looks absolutely massive and would look silly on the front of my house.

Anyone here willing to help me out -it will be a bit tedious.

As I posted in Januay I have had my old Hikvision system replaced - The old one was a 10yr+ 7608 NVR and has been replaced with a 7608NI-M2/8P.
My old one had a menu that was easy to understand like -"Copy saved footage to a memory stick.
These latest one are Icons and when i click on them they are a bit odd to me -I am stuggling to find what I want which is copy saved footage to memory stick - For a while I struggled with the MS and realised they were out dated so bought a new one which the menu recognised and I managed to save a single frame pic too it. When it came to footage I managed to get the right page up then it asked me for a name -"what name" - I put my name in -fitters name in -gable end -back door- front door- garage -donald duck and non worked.
I have been at this since January -I have googled it and it comes up with Hikvision manual - Double dutch to me. Tried other ways to search for it but same thing.
So if anyone could spare me 30 min or so to write this out in plain language I would be grateful - but remember I am a clockwork man ie- 80 and this new tech hurts my head so can you explane like you are daddy and I am a 6 yr old.
Like press menu (it is on main page down bottom left etc) -Yes -Yes that is how I need it.
My old one was easy -copied loads of footage for cops with no problem but I am struggling.
The fitter said he would come round and run through it with me but he bogged off saying he was ill twice-in other words **** *** He only lives 400 yards down the road.
I can understand this is a pain so even pointers would help.
Do I only need to do it from monitor or do I need to open SADP. I do have the password for this system if needed.

Thanks.

@DXP55 I have just replaced my aged Hikvision and failed NVR with a newer model. Even tho I have local access to the NVR I tend to use IVMS 4200 on a desktop PC to review recording and or events for various cameras over that of using the NVR. That downloads the actual event or period of recording etc....

Tried that link and I get this from Hikvision.

"Your current behavour is detected as abnormal"

Googled Hikvision manual and got same reply.

Checked Adblocker plus and turned it off and on.

seems Hikvision isn't the only thing I struggle with.

Anyway thanks for trying to help.

Is this the manual you found?

Why don't you try contacting Hikvision to see if they can send someone else to talk you through it?

I wasn't able to view the PDF in Firefox, so had to go through a VPN to download it.

I've uploaded the file to Upload.ee:

Almost there -With the aid of Youtube clip showing it with same menu I have - I have now saved footage and can replay it from memory card.
Plugged card into PC and can watch the clip with VLC player but it seems Hickvision got peed off and would only let me watch two clips. Did a bit more head scratching and copied file and it worked.
The only thing I found was each time I plugged Memory card in to NVR there was twice the number of clips that i started with -I am either soft touching a key or something I have missed.
I did read the manual on memory cards but it seems that what I was looking for is there but under a different name (function).

Thanks for that manual link and anything else as I am further down the slope and feeling much happier with myself.
Need to go get a few more paracetamol's as heads spinning. :)

Have no experience of their wireless setups, but I have 3 of their CX410’s running on a RLN8-410 NVR and it’s been flawless for me so far. Quick detection, easy to view the recordings on whatever device I want (phone/s or NVR) and seems reliable so far.

Footage is more than good enough for my needs and I’d certainly consider them again when time to upgrade.

The only thing I’ve done to mine was to upgrade the HDD to allow more storage space and that was an absolutely painless experience. No hassle at all, old one out, new one in and the machine did the rest.
